I've noticed a lack of respect for Rielly among Leafs fans too and I don't understand it. He's a legit 1st pairing defenseman, what's not to like?

Much of it is just a lack of understanding to how the Leafs play. The defence is supposed to pinch all the time in the offensive zone which Rielly does. And when he does the high forward is supposed to cover. When they don't and a chance is generated, dummies blame the defenceman. Rarely is a defenceman in TO to blame for a goal, mainly because most goals are coming off turnovers that a forward failed to cover for. Holl gets dumped on for this as well. Once dummies get an opinion it just festers and then they just look for reasons to reinforce their opinion.
