Description
So BUF wants 4 1sts or equivalent.. they can get that, we can give it and not give up our current prospects.

As for salaries in the years to come, trading some of these guys will be necessary(Buch/Strome/Lemieux). The kids will all sign the usual NYR bridge deals to help delay it also. If others like lindgren have to be moved at some point then so be it. Also the buyout penalties of roughly 4.5M will be there.

But seriously, those centres and wingers.. OMG

I like the player but I can't see buff taking just 4 1st. I'd think they want a mix of players or prospects. I want some known value in the trade.

I expect the fans to decline. The organization likely won’t. There will be a ton of angry fans when it’s done. 5 years from now will be a different story but the fans aren’t patient as they have been waiting for that for a decade already.

It just doesn't make sense. We are not too good at choosing and waiting for all these choices and prospects, and half of them will probably be late first. I would rather have three prospects who are already ready to contribute and one choice than four picks in the first round.

The issue with known values is that you’re only going to be able to hold onto them for the near future and the real goal should be to build up a solid prospect pool to groom for 10 years rather than keep some “knowns” for 2-5 years. It’s just the smartest way to go about it.. NYR drafted 8 1st in 4 years and now they are solid.. Chytil, Miller, Lundkvist were all late picks too. While you also have 4 top 3 draft picks giving you the more elite type of players. Then you spend on a few stars to fill the gaps. That’s how you should do it.

Chytil, Miller, Lundkvist were all late picks.. maybe go through the history of drafts and see how many stud players come from 20-32. If you have scouting problems then you will never be good..

And how long should we wait for these new Chytil, Miller and Lundkvist? Another 5-7 years without a hint of playoffs? No thanks. Even teams with good scouts make mistakes in choosing what to say about us then. Although now it seems that our GM is trying to expand the scouting department and inviting new people, but it would still be foolish to trade Eichel for the first rounds.

I mean, we drafted all 3 just a few years ago and they have some big impact with our team so it didn’t take 5-7 years. Not having Eichel allows you guys to be absolutely bottom for a few years to ensure that you draft another Eichel type player or more. Along with the 2nd liners. Also, I’d zero in on Lias Anderson who is just failing everywhere he goes because he can’t handle being 3rd line. Pay a 6th for him and toss him on the top line and force him to become the star he should be. If I could be GM of any team outside of NYR it would be BUF/OTT.

If you really want 4 picks in the 20s for eichel then ok I get it but I dont share the vision. id rather 2 and an A prospect and a young top 6 winger. Leaving it up to the draft is too risky for me.

I get that some picks don’t work out. The issue is timing. Do you want a guy like Buch there for 4 years and then he’s gone or draft a player like Miller/Chytil and own them for 10 years+? If you’re going to build a contender you need this type of longevity with players but if it’s just to fill a hole on a roster to fill stands then Buch is the way to go which could just be fulfilled with UFAs while drafting for longevity
