I could see the Tyler Johnson trade happening in the off season because his NTC turns into a M-NTC clause on June 15th (20 team list) but only if the Lightning throw in a 1st round draft pick and a prospect. They're in salary cap hell and will definitely be looking to trade Johnson in the off season. However, the Blackhawks have the cap space and the leverage. They shouldn't sacrifice their flexibility for Tyler Johnson. If they're going to take 3 years of a contract for a 30+ year old player, they should be getting a big reward. The flat cap for 3 years is going to be a big crunch on a bunch of teams because they all planned for a cap that increased every year. The Blackhawks absolutely have to weaponize their cap space and LTIR this season and next season.
