So WPG just get the 2 worst players and that's it?

I mean Niku and Mete would be a push to me as Mete has at the very least shown he can stick to a line up which is something Sami hasn't done yet. Mete isn't himself this year and it's likely that he lost his confidence from the get go by being scratched and if I'm correct he is giving the team an extra year of RFA then Niku. Then Perreault for Byron ... Byron's only a year removed from being a steady 20 goal scorer for us and he has great leadership (Thus the "A" on his shirt), he could bring a speedy dimension for Winnipeg's bottom six which they lack big time.
Why do you see it lopsided?

Winnipeg doesn't need deadweight.

Perreault is having a better season than Byron, so that doesn't work. You also want to get someone who is actually producing now and not three seasons ago, Byron last scored 20 goals in 2017-18 not last season (4 goals) or the year before that (15 goals).

I suspect the Jets would use Niku as a part of a package to get somebody more impactful. Also, Niku is more valuable as he has one year more term than Mete plus Niku will not have arb rights after his contract while Mete has arb rights at the end of this season.

You said it yourself, Mete and Byron's game is declining.

Most likely, Byron will stay a 4th liner a Mete a 7/8 Dman.

This is a high risk (because of Byron's contract) , low reward trade for Winnipeg.

Wouldn't call it "declining" as Byron was hurt (Knee and concussion) for the most part of the season last year. Risk is 3M$ for a fine fourth liner that plays PK over the next two years but odds you may lose him to Seattle, reward is a 20 goal scorer.
Mete's reasons of his "decline" in Montreal are mainly about being misused than anything else. You can't argue that placing him with a rookie (Romanov) wasn't a smart move and trying to juggle with 3 defenders on a third pairing wasn't a smart move either. Give the guy stability and he'll be back to himself and as I've mentioned it's not like Niku carries a whole lot of trade value either.

Matty P has been awesome!! the guy shows up everyday, works his butt off and has been producing in limited ice time. Plus he's an expiring deal opposed to 2 years of Byron after this year.
Hard pass for the jets.
maybe a 1 for 1 with Mete and Niku...change of scenery type but still unnecessary IMO

Byron is on waivers this morning. Someone can have him without giving up assets.

His second time on waivers this season.
