I wouldn’t give up a first if I’m the gm of most teams but it’s possible someone might be desperate enough to do so. With Toronto competing for a cup and playing with either Matthews or Tavares i would take the risk if I’m Toronto and do it. Buffalo would have to retain salary though

Leafs fans are in for a real shock when the playoffs come around, because no one in Canada plays defense apparently. Every game in the North Division seemingly has 10 goals scored. Sure, it’s fun to watch in the regular season. When the playoffs come around and suddenly Toronto can’t score 5 goals a game will be a different animal. We don’t know who the real cup contenders are because of the limitations of this year’s schedule.

I don’t disagree with that. Management in Toronto expects to compete for the cup so I expect them to make decisions that a cup contender would make. Hope they can play my islanders so they can get manhandled defensively and to show Tavares once again that he made the wrong decision
