imo Minnesota is the perfect trade partner. Their PP is 7.9%, if a Minnesota fan claims they don't need help they're lying. They have draft picks to spare. Could get a 2nd rounder to add to our first round pick for an Ekholm trade. That's a pretty big price though. I'd prefer stocking up on some mid-draft picks, that's where Holland made his career

Barrie's averaged over 22 minutes this season. He played 25min during the first game of our Toronto series, we didn't have a PP all game. He's actually being relied on way too much overall. He's at his best when he's given 3rd pairing minutes, and PP time. This isn't even Tippetts fault, we just don't have a top pair RD. imo this doesn't hurt Barrie's value

Was it last game or the game before where they didn’t have a powerplay? Things blur together this season. Anyway, the last time they had powerplays nurse replaced Barrie on the top PP, and for good reason. He hasn’t been effective. I don’t think this is a year where he gets a 2nd round pick.

Barrie plays a majority of PP's, they switch it up so the other team can't get a read. Barrie leads all d men in points and has a super fair cap hit, we could even retain half unless we're acquiring someone. A team will easily be stupid enough to do a 2nd rounder and then some. Toffoli and AA arent great comparisons, but they had huge returns last TDL

Haven't actually checked for a while but the NHL's 5th highest scoring dman is still easily worth a 2nd as a rental. His contract is only 3.75mill

Somebody like Ottawa. If he’s cap on LTIR they trade him for a useful guy with equal cap hit who’s fallen out of favour but is still usefully somebody like Tyler Johnson. If he comes back then great they need defence at times. That’s the luxury of cap space and rebuilding.
