Description
Don’t take this too seriously. A lot of the moves (ie Yams drafted) are in a vacuum

Just trying to show how badly PC destroyed this team and how much better it could’ve been

Idc how bad hall is doing, that trade will always look bad. Assume Hall stays in EDM, does great, and signs an 8 mill X 6 year extension

  1. Samsonov, Ilya
Détails additionnels:
Would EDM have drafted Chabot, Connor, Barzel, etc... had they kept 15OA? Nobody knows forsure.

At the time their biggest need was a RHD, and a starting goaltender. Obviously this is a complete vacuum and don’t take this too seriously, but I could’ve seen EDM take #1 ranked goalie prospect Samsanov at 15OA and then take Carlo with their 2nd round pick.

Wouldn’t have picked these guys since they probably do a lot better in 17-18 and 18-19.

Lets just assume EDM drafts 2 guys who still aren’t NHL ready with those picks, with later first round picks

      ANA
OIL trade for an under the radar josh Manson back in 2016 rather than Adam Larsson.

With the expansion draft looming, ANH is fine with moving a defensemen. Edmonton gives up high scoring winger Jordan Eberle who can play immediately in ANH top 6 in exchange for Manson.

The moment Edmonton hired Charelli I was facepalm'ing. The sad part of all this is there were better GM options becoming available.

Honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to aquire a GM if it meant giving up a pick, I just don't understand what somebody saw in PC.

the trade that really screwed them was the reinhart trade
bob staufferr said in a radio that if the oilers had not trade the pick, they would have drafted erikson ek

Hot take to add here - with better front office and coaching staff they could've developed Yakupov into the actual player he was supposed to become. Being a first overall pick, he must've had an immense potential.

Don't forget your 2017 2nd that went to Boston for you to sign PC. That pick turned out to Bruins top prospect Jack Studnicka

I mean he's not a top prospect but yeah definitely a good one and Edmonton could certainly use him

That’s assuming PC was the GM though. Another GM may have taken someone else. we’ll never know.

Yeah he’s Boston’s top prospect, not a top prospect in the league. And yeah he could potentially be a 2C I’m fine with that

Yeah I was not a fan of that pick either. A few years ago there was an Oilers radio commentator here on local radio discussing the Oilers and mentioned how the owner interfered the year Yakapov was drafted.

The owner wanted Yakapov to be drafted while management was leaning towards another player. Another headshaking moment.

Sure I can buy that argument. My only thing about this is, if you have a management team in place to make these decisions, then let them do their jobs. They were given the job for a reason afterall.
