It’s not though. The 2021 Canes and 2020 Lightning are at two different points in their window. You could make a solid argument that if the lightning don’t win it last year, Cooper is fired and other players were shipped out to shake it up.

How about two 2nd round picks? As a Rangers fan I'd be happy with that. Regarding the Goodrow trade, Tampa traded the last pick in the 1st round (and Greco) for Goodrow and the 3rd pick in the 3rd round. Which is basically trading the 1st pick in the 2nd round (and Greco) for Goodrow and the last pick in the 2nd round. So the Rangers trading Blackwell and an early 3rd (instead of a 4th) for a late 1st round pick, might not be "so" unrealistic.

He’s played in 44 career games. He’s 27 years old. Why do you think that is? Probably because this is a flash in the pan and he’s not really that good. It’s a nice story, 8 points in 11 games, and he’s played great hockey. But him for a 1st? I don’t see it.

Completely disagree, it's more like Blackwell fell through the cracks in Nashville. I'd be happy, maybe more so with two 2nd round picks than a late 1st in exchange for Blackwell and an early 3rd.
