This offseason is a lot better than it could have been. Last year's decision to move on from certain guys allows next offseason to not be as terrible as it could have been.

Given Pettersson's poor play, I doubt he gets a full length deal. I would presume a bridge near to what Barzal got. I could see both he and Hughes getting the same bridge deals, perhaps 6.75mx3... Hughes has been the better of the two so far this year.

Demko figure seems fair. Motte will certainly be back in a large position next year.

Issue here is obvious: Beagle as a 3c. Beagle is not that good as a 4C... is perhaps the worst player out of our cap dumps.

Bottom six improvement will be a focal point of next year.

Beagle is basically buyout proof but only has one year left.

Yeah - we can't get rid of him.... but he absolutely 100% without a doubt should NEVER be any more than a 4C... ideally a scratch by next year.

With the cap made by changing to bridge deals + removing Armia, you'd need to find a better 3C but not overpay them

If Pettersson signs long term it'll be for something closer to 10mil. You're also forgetting about Gaudette and as someone said above I wouldn't sign Armia or Murray to those contracts. I'd rather see them use the cap space to sign a legit top 6 winger like Schwartz or RNH or to upgrade the right side. I also doubt Virtanen is still here by the Expansion draft.

I doubt Quinn is playing for that next season. If Vancouver isn't willing to give a long-term deal, I could see an offer-sheet. Thomas Chabot's $8M/YR should be considered a minimum.

Not really... he's been good.... but in time, this contract would look just as terrible as the Roussels, Ferlands, Beagles and Sutters. You don't give bottom six players this term and money

Nobody offersheets anything. And we already know Vancouver matches whatever OS comes.

    Quinn will bridge.

Marner had two offer-sheets before he signed. So try again.

The player has to both want to sign an offer sheet and then the team has to be so tight on cap that they don't match it. Toronto's cap picture was much more difficult that year than Vancouver's will be this year.

I didn't say Vancouver wouldn't match it, did I? I said I can't see him not getting a long-term offer. You think teams wouldn't kick the tires (on maybe) the league-leading D points getter)?

    $8,726,189 - $10,907,735
    2 First Round Picks
    1 Second Round Pick
    1 Third Round Pick

That's pretty low compensation to be giving up.

Petterson has better numbers than Barzal, I agree he goes short term but it will he higher than Barzal, same with Hughes. Long term is going to cost 10 or more for 8 years.
