Proposed Crosby trade, 2021, with 4+ years remaining:

2021 1st (later than Arizona's pick was projected to be), 2021 3rd (Later than Arizona's pick was projected to be), B+ Prospect (Studnicka), B prospect (Vaak), B prospect (Zboril), Krejci (expiring contract).

I really don't see how that miniscule of a difference gets you anywhere close to Crosby.

But yeah killing the ENTIRE future of the bruins to upgrade the 2C for like 2/3 years is an awful move.
3-5 years down the line that 8.7 Mil is gonna be a problem. Their lack of prospects will be a problem. And the lack of another 1st rounder will be a problem.
So cool the 2nd line has a much better Center. Great, they still arent gauranteed winners and their future is horrid.

I think you have this hump that you cant get over that the Bruins are going to be able to keep this pace forever. This core has 1 cup in 3 appearances in the last 10-12 years, you need to empty the cupboard to get them at least one more cup. They had probably the best chance to get that second cup a few years ago and tanked it in game 7 unfortunately, it happens. But if Marchand, Bergy, Krejci, Rask cant get another cup the past 10-12 years have been a complete failure imo. On top of that being on top for this long its inevitable that we're going to have to enter some sort of rebuild. Crosby probably isn't the right piece to target (just hype off a bull**** article) but anyone who isn't up with the big club should be made available, and yes that includes Studnicka and Vaak. I'd be okay with moving Lauzon, or Zboril even with as good as they've played so far this season. Its probably an unpopular take which is fine but the Bruins have been one or two additions short. I want another cup and I dont care if that means sucking for 10 years after Marchy, Bergy, Krejci, Rask leave. I get fans want the team to be good forever but that just isn't a logical expectation. You need A LOT of things to go right. Obviously I got off track from the Crosby trade, which the one above is a no brainer yes imo but I just hate this idea of that we cant move Studnicka/picks cuz our prospect pool is shot to ****. If its already shot to **** then what's trading one of the last pieces of value going to change? It won't change anything. We'll still have a **** farm system with some decent middling players in the pipeline. Its time to go for it.

I take Crosby over Marner Kucherov and Rantanen maybe even Draisital, before this year I would take him over Matthews but the way Matthews is playing right no, tough to say that. But I see what you are saying.

Fair enough. My thought is if you are going to make this type of trade and mortgage the future{which I wouldn't do} give yourself a fighting chance with a younger player who can drive play. For example, Eichel. Then when you have to move on in 2-3 years you can move that piece to start a full rebuild. All hypothetical anyways because Boston doesn't have the pieces to get that player AND be deep enough to be a serious threat.
