Description

Since this is a popular recent speculation, I thought I would list a whole bunch of trade proposals and let everyone wade in with their thoughts, opinions and reasoning.

I've liberated a few guys from the LTIR list just to see what the eventual squad might look like.

One trap to be aware of: the roster shown requires the Maple Leafs to retain Engvall and give Denis Malgin or Nic Petan or Adam Brooks sufficient games to qualify the necessary two forwards for the expansion draft.

When Friedman mentioned leafs were looking for a forward I did see a lot of people pointing to Rakell. Dont know if Dubas pulls the trigger but April 12 should be very intriguing

My main reason for this post was that I'd seen so many Rakell-to-Toronto constructions this week that I thought it would be helpful and fun to put what I consider the most interesting ideas in one place.

Friedman started getting peoples heads going as on Tim and Sid he said leafs at the deadline will add a top 6 forward and noted its someone whose potentially gonna play with Matthews and Marner. He said its on a piece of paper but wont share it. Its driving people nuts rn.

Niemela was very impressive at the under 20. He may be pushing for a shot at the nhl in 3 years which may leave a gap for him. As much as I would hate to lose Lilly I think he is the more expendable piece.

Still not sure how happy I would be if we moved Lilly in that deal either.

I think the leafs offer would be Engvall a 1st and a b prospect. If there’s retention we add a 3rd.

I mean you may not wanna make that trade which is fine, but I think that’s a fair market price for Rakell.

On the other hand, Anaheim sucks at basically everything. Their bright spot is a top 5 goalie in the league who's saving more pucks than he should be, analytically speaking. Their offense and defense are both a dumpster fire. There's no fun to that team's game right now.

And that hurts Rackell's value more. It proves he doesn't really have the skill to make plays on his own, he clearly doesn't make others better but needs better players to make him successful. That really dulls his shine no?

But it refutes your unqualified statement that "he doesn't really have the skill to make plays on his own."
