Completely disagree with you there. His offensive ceiling is much higher, though he’ll never be as good defensively. He’s much more in line with the definition of a “1C”

That’s why I said different skills. I think both are fringe, because they don’t have the full package. Danault is never going to produce enough for him to be that true 1C, and PLD won’t be good enough both ways for the same thing. And sure there are 1Cs who aren’t that good defensively, but PLD doesn’t produce enough to warrant being there without being really good defensively.

PLD doesn’t produce enough YET on Columbus and is only 22. I see him as being a Scheifele level player once he’s traded
