So instead of Newhooks elc in 2 yrs you’re having to sign PLD to an extension coming off of a $5M contract. PLD to the Avs is just not a fit long term imo and you sure are trading Newhook for a 2 yrs of PLD.

Well i think in this scenario you'd let kadri walk. Plus imo dubois is a better player than newhook and it's not like dubios is old, he is only 22

Or, you treat Dubois as a 2 year rental, and trade him for a massive haul in 2022 when his value is at its highest.

That’s a lot of faith in a guy that has 1 50pt season in his career, and if who is going to get traded to the Avs is not likely going to get PP1 time, and in all honesty is probably going to see a small reduction in is TOI. Also is PLD an upgrade over Kadri, .67 vs .64 ppg?

As for better than Newhook, I’ll take Newhook’s upside on an ELC for the next 3 seasons and not have to lose a single asset all day long.

As fun as it is to explore these trade ideas, it's pretty obvious that it doesn't make sense for Colorado to break their cap structure for the sake of Dubois. Just let the team take the next steps organically, with Byram, Newhook, Kaut, etc being given bigger roles gradually over time.
