Break down the trade. They’re losing draft capital, getting a highly touted prospect coming off a horrible year, and strome who is nothing. Chytil is a solid piece.

It would be much better for the Rangers keep all three of the players your proposing in the trade and instead of trading for PLD, rather sign a UFA center after the season when Lundqvist's and Shattenkirk's buyouts and Smith's contract come off the books.

Preferably the UFA center would sign for only one year because the following season the Rangers will be up against the salary cap max. Like this offseason, players should be much more willing to sign a one year contract so they could be a UFA when the current flat cap increases.

There may not be any 1 for 1 trades specifically but all other fans say he is awful, has no value, etc.. I don't agree and it's nice to see someone else feel that way.
