From the rumors out there think this is possible. Although maybe there's another trade to make and get Barzal on an 8 year deal around 10mil. Rather he get a bridge deal but sounds like that's what the hold up is.

Saw it in Elliott Freidman's 31 thoughts and Arthur Staple tweeted about it as well today. Freidman added Hickey is being shopped to be traded

Regarding Hickey, I wouldn't be surprised if the Islanders wait until after the season and let Seattle claim him. He played his junior hockey with the Seattle Thunderbirds and can be a nice addition for them (similar to Derek Engelland for VGK).

I would think the same thing but if they need more cap to sign Barzal they have to move someone. Komarov and Ladd are immovable so Hickey gets the door unfortunately.

Just put Hickey and Leo on waivers, when they clear they go to the AHL (probably taxi squad) with Ladd and up space that way. Not ideal but it solves the issues.

Not necessarily. We have around $8M in cap space. If he signs a bridge deal it will surely be less than that.
