Alnefelt isn’t going anywhere according to JBB Lightning aren’t desperate for cap space go 4-4 in expansion draft give Seattle A1&2!to take Johnson That way just prevents them from wanting to grab either Foote or Cernak which ever one of them is not protected being that they’re both protected

I just read that about Alnefelt, he is not a deal breaker in a trade. My understanding of the cap space for TB is that they will still have a cap problem once Kucherov is reactivated in time for the Playoffs this year. For now his $9.5 Million will not count until his Injury status changes. 1st & 2nd would be steep price to get Johnson off the books, Seattle would consider it. Wings could take all of Killorn's contract & it would cost either a 2021 or 2022 1st Rd (both of would be in the low 20s range) given Lightning's contender status.

Detroit accepts the Vegas trade, Winnipeg declines the Laine trade not enough quality heading to the Jets. Nemeth with 50% retention is worth a late 2nd round pick rather easily. Tampa declines. And the Filppula trade looks about right.

No way Winnipeg moves laine for that. Its not a top 6 player involved or even a 1st rounder. Tampa can take their time now making a deal. I dont think thats gonna be it.

I was saying Make it worth it for Seattle to take the hometown kid

I see your points regarding Winnipeg as far as draft compensation - the updated draft pick package would now be a 2022 1st Rd pick plus the 2021 2nd Rd pick. Svechnikov is a former 1st Rd pick who would be included to see if a change of scenery would help him & he can develop with the Jets. Rasmussen is also a former 1st Rd pick who has a pretty decent net front presence & C/W versatility with middle 6 potential. The Wings would be getting Laine for 2 years at $6.7 Million & the opportunity to extend him or flip him by the 2022 trade deadline. A case could be made to include a 2022 3rd Rd pick as well. Helm offers Jets PK help & speed on their bottom 6 with salary retained by the Wings. Jets could use that cap space to acquire another player at the trade deadline (any high end player will have about half of their season salary already paid, so Jets would have space to acquire a $7-8 Million/year player if they only need to fit $3.5-4 Million under the cap for the 2021 season). The prospect package could be updated as well to include defenseman Dennis Cholowski (former 1st Rd pick) Or Antti Tuomisto (2nd Rd pick).

The points made about the Tampa deal are fair as well - when Kucherov comes back off the Injury List they will have to make room for his $9.5 Million. The Coburn & Paquette trade cleared space & allowed TB to put Gaborik & Nilsson on LTIR - but after resigning Cirelli, Sergachev & Cernak they were between $11-12 Million over the cap. The draft pick could be pushed to 2022 but the Wings would still want a 1st because given the TB's Contender status for at least the next 3 years, that 1st Rd pick will most likely be between #28-32 which I think is a fair price to pay to keep the contender status strong. TB has Volkov & Barre-Boulet ready to step into the lineup to take Killorn's place on the 3rd line. Killorn's value to the Wings is leadership, clubhouse culture & stabilizing the 3rd line compared to Filpulla or Nielsen. Killorn becomes an candidate for Alternate Cap on this Wings team plus will help incoming prospects like Veleno, Berggren, Raymond, Soderblom & Niederbach. The draft compensation going back to TB would still be a 2021 4th Rd pick but a prospect could be included like forwards Otto Kivenmaki Or Mathias Brome, high potential slotted for bottom 6.

kuch doesn't comeback until at least playoffs and you don't need to abide by the cap during playoffs
