I like the trades, but I think Barzal will get a bridge deal.

Bridge deal or more money long term IMO
I do like the kings deal. makes sense for them, but I heard that Uncle Leo wants to play on the east coast, but he only has a 7 team no trade list

I wonder about a long term signing for Barzal. I feel like he can use the Marner contract as leverage to get into the 10millions area. Unless reports are saying he's happy with something Draisaitl-esque

Ya a barzal long term deal is 8 figures per year. He doesn’t deserve it. But he’ll get it.

I think it might be a bit more expensive than that, 2 players at $5.5M x 2 years collectively for a first would have worked before the cap crunch but it will cost more now. Vancouver has tried to move Loui ($6Mx2) for a 1st and no one is coming close to biting on that. Add to that the Kings are close to the max contracts. I think you need to add a decent prospect and take back some AHL contracts that will not likely make the Kings. If that's too much, the Kings are in no rush, they likely will wait for the best offer from now until the trade deadline.

Marleau at 6x1 cost the Leafs a 1st last year. I imagine the cost has doubled since then, and as you said, it’s 2 years for these guys. Gonna be pricey.

Two cap dumps require more than a future first, and it's not clear you get an actual NHLer for that, either.

The difference is that you could bury 2 contracts instead of 1. So really youre saving 1.5 mil a year.
