Description
I don't think that it will actually happen but what's your thoughts on Detroit signing Mike Hoffman.

My thought process with this is that last I heard he's asking for between 5.5 million and 6.5 million but teams that are interested have been offering less.
Detroit offers him 1 year at 7 million, more than he's been asking for to get him to come to Detroit.
He will instantly slot in on the top line with Larkin and Mantha giving him the best chance to perform his best.
Detroit then flips him at the deadline to a contender and retains 50% salary.
Unlikely because he'll likely want to go straight to a contending team but just speculating for fun.

Fabbri at 2C as it has been said they are going to give him a look at center, this lets him play with Bert and get that chemistry going. Ryan starts on 2nd line to see if he can start producing, if not then Zadina will slot back in on the 2nd line RW
If Fabbri doesn't do well at C then Namestnikov will slot in as the 2C.

Bad contract is also taken on with a 1st round pick to help a cap strapped team, just picked NYI, but could potentially be other deals instead.

“Unlikely because he'll likely want to go straight to a contending team but just speculating for fun. “

What contender has that cap space though? It’s a win-win as he will go to a contender at the deadline and we acquire more futures.

I’ve thought this makes sense for a bit as it also kicks Bert down to play with Fabbri. They had good chemistry in junior.

They'd likely have to move someone or convince him to take a discount on a one year deal.
I agree its a win-win, that's why I'd like to see it happen.
That they did and I think we saw flashes of it still last season the few times they got to play together so give them a full season and see what happens

I could see it happening and heres why.

Detroit is rebuilding, put hoffman in he plays well, at the deadline retain half his salary and trade him to a cup competitor.

Detroit gets some prospects and picks and that team gets a 30 goal player.
