There some questionable comments in this thread.

To answer the question, though, I'd have to say no. Of course anyone's attainable if the offer is good enough, but at this point in time, I think it takes more than anyone's willing to pay. The Leafs biggest needs are fixable without moving Nylander, so why do it? The Leafs would need to have their socks knocked off by an offer to consider it, imo.

Whatever happens with the Leafs, it would happen in 2 years when Reilly becomes a free agent. Until then, all their stars are signed through the flat cap and beyond so theyre actually in a fairly decent situation in that all they really have to do is fill gaps in their bottom 6 with rentals.

You clearly don't get hockey if you think having 4 "stars" in forwards in only 1 on defense and a questionable goaltender is going to win playoff games. Defense and goaltending wins playoff games, not 4 highly paid stars on offense. Leafs have been one of the most loaded teams with scoring and points in the regular season the last 4 seasons yet get bounced out of the first round every year...actually, they didn't even make the first round this year. That said, the Leafs front office is smart, dynamic offenses are fun to watch, sell tickets and merchandise...screw getting a cup!

we have 3 stars on defence, Muzzin who's arguably better than rielly, and Brodie who's probably the best right side defenceman we've ever had. Brodie led the team in 5v5 ice time for years, partnering with giordano. Who did we trade to acquire those guys? Trevor Moore?

After the lightning missed the playoffs twice and got swept by montreal in 13-14, did they trade away some of their key pieces? No, they held on to them and drafted, shuffled around the depth, changed up their goaltending etc. Trading your superstars is not how you win championships

You still haven't said what we are trading him for, either. "Can't have that much locked up in four forwards", would it be better if that money were locked up in 9 forwards who didn't produce as much offence? Having one of the best 1-2 centre punches in the NHL and some of the best top end wingers in the league is toronto's greatest strength.

"yeah but they got bounced in the playoffs", it's because they had a combined 3 points (1g 2a) from their bottom 6 and had their only defensive dman go down with injury, and had to replace him with martin marincin. Please enlighten me how trading Nylander is the solution to that problem? "They could trade him for a dman" we got a dman (2!) for $0, Bogosian and Brodie, for free. Didn't have to trade a star player.

Brodie is not a NHL star, stop being such a homer dude; unreal that you would claim he is. How many times have Leafs defensive players been voted to the allstar weekend combined? Come on man, you are way overrating here. Muzzin is still good but not the player he once was. Reilly is good but he's not a top 10 defender.

Lightning are a well balanced team, the Leafs are not...period. Bad comparison.

What would you want to trade for? I think it's pretty clear the Leafs need a allstar defensive player on the top right side line. Marner's not bringing that back without retention as he's overpaid. Nylander is the best hope for that.

So what happened the previous 3 years? LMAO Quit being such a homer, the team last year wouldn't have made it out of the first round. You got Bogo who's a 3rd liner on a great playoff team and Brodie who's a okay 1st liner and good 2nd liner on a good playoff defensive team.

Brodie is really good, idk why he gets the hate that he does. He was the biggest defenceman free agent until suddently the leafs sign him and he's a giveaway machine who's declining.

Muzzin has lost a bit of his offence but he's every bit the defensive star he's always been he's our best defenceman by a mile.

Rielly is a top 10 defenceman, he's literally one of the best offensive defenseman in the entire NHL. In his last healthy year he was 3rd in points behind Norris winner giordano and brent burns. This year he was injured all year and it showed, the leafs' offence was not nearly up to its potential. His impact on the team is immeasurable and he's a legit superstar.

The lightning are a well balanced team after 10 years of tinkering and roster construction. Yzerman built the team for 9 years and Brisbrois tweaked it, only to finally win a championship. Dubas has had 2 full seasons, 1.5 of which had a coach who was completely incompatible with his roster and 2 of which he had at least 2 or 3 players in key positions from previous management. He spent 2 off seasons locking up the core players, shuffling out garbage Lou contracts, retooling the depth as best he could with a coach who benched every player he acquired. Give him 10 full seasons at the helm with his coach then we can discuss where the team is then

The leafs acquired a top pair defenceman. Obviously if you dislike brodie, you don't think this, but he is. He's a defensively competant guy who can move the puck and log top pair minutes in defensive situations.

The first year the team were rookies, their 3 best players were on ELCs and they had a hilariously deep, but young, team - they lost in 6 to the presidents trophy winners with most games going to overtime

Second year, the team went up against the bruins and held their own, yet lost their #2 30 goal shutdown grinder centre to suspension. The team, already lacking centre depth and a solid defensive group, struggled. They still got to game 7, yet their goaltending also failed them with andersen having the worst series of his career

Third year, the team was much better, they held the lead for most of the series and had arguably the best 123 centre core in the league. Then, Kadri again, got suspended leaving the team sorely lacking in depth, forcing 4th liners to share shutdown time with the scoring lines. The team nearly won game 6 at home, but ultimately failed and lost game 7. Babs came under fire for not motivating the team and completely screwing up deployment, throwing out players who were struggling or simply not good (Marleau key among them) despite having youthful stars on the bench

This year, bottom 6 couldn't score, freddy lost the goalie duel and the team got beat out by a grindier, more defensively sound team. We also lost our best dman in game 2

There weren't barely any free agent defensemen on the market. Being the best at an average group means nothing.

Muzzin doesn't skate as well anymore

Reilly is good, that's one top 20 D guy that is top in the league; top 10 is a stretch...he's somewhere between 8 and 14 depending how you measure.

Brodie is not a top line guy on a really good defensive playoff team, he's just not. He's not bad, but he's not a standout top defenseman in the league.

So what's going to be the excuse year 5? Dude, every single team has challenges but when a team can't win a round in the postseason 4 years in a row, that says a lot about the structure of the team. Every single reason you gave is an excuse...simply an excuse. These are anomalies you are trying to pass them off as.
