Why are the Leafs' re-signing Lehtonen if he is a 3rd pairing D?

well i dont know right now if hes worth signing because he hasnt stepped on the NHL ice yet

because they have elvis too and hes younger and has more upside

If he is worth re-signing he will cost more than 1M (which the Leafs' can't afford) and won't be on the 3rd pairing.

Luckily Elvis is exempt. On the other hand, we’d have problems protecting Dermott.

It's pretty simple. You'd think that Leaf fans would have gotten it through their heads by now that Columbus doesn't have to trade a goalie to avoid losing one in expansion. There's literally a trade like this every day and they somehow still don't know.
