Honestly, a 4th and 7th for Kerfoot isn't bad under normal circumstances, and one of the better teams in the league (if they had cap) would probably jump on that deal. Not Detroit though.
Helping a division rival with their cap troubles automatically tanks any trade value Kerfoot would have, and the Wings don't need an expensive 3C. Yzerman's going for maximum cap flexibility. The only players they have signed past 2022 is Larkin and Mantha. Kerfoot doesn't fit the direction the team is going, so there's no interest there either.
