There is no mess to fix really. You created the mess by trying to fix one that does not exist. We have one of the best rosters we have had since the 90's. There are a couple of minor question marks in the lineup like. Is our LHD good enough to make the playoffs or does it all hinge on Romanov stepping up and being the savior of the bunch? Who will play on what line? Will not having a superstar player who can immediately change the flow of the game hurt us or will Drouin, Suzuki and/or Kotkaniemi step up and be that player? The one final question mark does not apply to the season but it is relevant and that is, Who will be resigned and who will walk in FA? Personally I think that the D is built for the playoffs and the tight checking games that lead up to the playoffs (which if we have a shortened season, the entire season may have a playoff stretch type of feeling). I think the lines to start the seasons will be Tatar-Danault-Gallagher, Drouin-Suzuki-Anderson, Byron/Taffoli-Kotkaniemi-Taffoli/Armia, Lehkonen-Evans-Armia/Byron. Danault and the Habs will work out another extension (maybe a 2 or 3 year deal at a lower than expected cap hit, then extend again at a larger cap hit after that). I don't think not having a superstar will hurt us given our depth through the lineup. Some players will have to leave in FA or via trades but I feel like those will be complementary players with the exception of Tatar.
