I've done an extensive search of LH dmen capable of playing to our needs and in all honesty the only one that makes sense and doesn't involve us giving away our prized possessions like Sergachev for example, is Jack Johnson of Columbus.

CLB already has the depth on D.
Werenski and Murray are both proving to be top 4 LH shots.
CLB wants to trade this guy as they would most likely lose him in the expansion draft if not. Better to get something for him now.
They could use the extra cap space for next year.
MTL has the cap space to add.
MTL has the picks and prospects.
MTL needs a top 4 Dman capable of playing big minutes. Johnson averaged 22+ in his career.
Johnson is relatively cheap and only signed for this year and next and doesn't have a NTC so we could trade him if necessary after the playoffs.

If I'm Bergevin, this is the smartest bet. I know some people are going to be saying he sucks and we can do better. The answer is no, we can't. Edler has a NTC and doesn't want to waive not too mention Nucks fans expect huge returns for a decent but that great dman. Marc Staal? I'd rather die. Mark Streit? Just as bad as Markov, so no upgrade there. Beauchemin has a NMC. Brodin, Maatta, Scandella, Fowler all will cost more then we should be willing to pay for what they will bring us.

I've done an extensive search to find someone who fits the needs of both teams and makes sense. Jack Johnson is the best choice for this year and next. After that, we need Sergachev to be the head honcho on the left side. Unless Beaulieu miraculously figures out out to be a top pairing dman. (Doubt it)

F50marco, what do you want to pay for Jack Johnson?

I would prefer Cam Fowler, even if this would include some young wingers (e.g. Scherbak, Hudon, Andrighetto) and a first round pick.
    Trade would happen Feb 2017.

Yeah me and F50marco have discussed this issue. I still believe the deal we discussed is still fair. We in Columbus love Johnson but realize that his time with us is coming to an end in the near future.

Cheap option could be enstrom if the jets sign trouba. I know people hate on enstrom but he has been a top 4 LHD for years and is very very good. Only has a year left after this one and would be fairly cheap. Also enstrom is a very team first and has said that if the jets asked to wave his nmc he would have no issue considering it.

    Yo, Marco?

Who we sending over for Johnson? We look to be 2mill ish short of where we need to be in terms of cap room. If we send Desharnais they're gonna want a sweetner and we're going to need say 5 mill in cap space (JJ at 4 and a new forward at 1)

Trying to be creative... What about T.J Brodie from Calgary...

Lets say they are out of play-off.. Would they be interested in a package of Beaulieu or Julsen and sherback? Draft picks...
