Isles sign Hamonic to allow a Pulock for Laine deal. It’s risky, but Hamonic would be a great fit with the Isles defense first philosophy, and Dobson would be the #1 defenseman above him by next year anyways. And besides, the Isles defense has worked despite being somewhat nameless and the forwards notoriously pitch in on defense in Barry’s system. Losing Pulock won’t be nearly as critical as one might think.

Not gonna lie, defense this year could be rocky, but Dobson, Aho, Wilde and Bolduc make for a bright future on defense. So the defensive setbacks will be temporary.

Why take the risk? Look at that offense. Two phenomenal shots to surround a premier playmaker on the 1st line, last playoff’s famous 2nd line, and a murderer’s row of 3rd liners. Offensive woes will be a thing of the past on this team. And for the most part, these forwards have already proven to be defensively sound.

As for the financial side of things, the expansion draft will go a long way on that front. We could pull a Grabovski with Komarov or Ladd and trade Varlamov to a team needing a solid starter
