Hot take but I'd rather have Roussel than Haula, I think the frenchman has more overall impact

Yeah, it was more a choice between dumping Beagle or the rooster, in order to acquire players with more trade value in the next two years. I think beagle has zero tradable value even at 50% retained, so It had to be the rooster.

Their names are Brad Marchand and Jake DeBrusk

Fair enough, although I think Jake on his offside puts his shot more into play off the rush than on the right side does. But I will change out Boston if someone wants to volunteer a team to replace them.

(After Marchand). If we can upgrade on DeBrusk while not downgrading somewhere else, it would be great. DeBrusk is more of middle-six player than top6.

Depending on which Canucks fan you talk to, some would argue he barely knows how to play RW. 🤣 but those people are just salty about who the Canucks didn’t take in that draft. Green avoids playing guys on their offsides as much as possible, but I don’t think the switch from left to right wing, or vice-versa, is huge.

I completely agree! So instead of Virtanen, we can give you Eriksson!! He plays both LW AAAAAND RW!! (and we'll stuff Beagle in his suitcase when we send him to you).

With the Eriksson trade his cap hit of $6M for 2 years is probably going to take good prospect with the 1st rd pick.

Yes but only if it's the 2015-16 Loui Eriksson...

      you may be right... 🤷🏼‍♂️
      BUT!
It is a cap hit of 6, but the actual salary paid will average out to 2.5mil/yr. in the COVID world, I think that offsets the deal enough to not need the extra prospect. I’d 100% agree they would need more that just a 1st if it was paying out the full 6/yr.

Yah, his actual cash cost is much lower than his cap hit, and that's important to teams who are scrambling to make the cap floor. There just aren't any...unfortunately.

Like I said in the title, it’s what they “should have done and still need to do.” Eriksson clearly falls in that “should have done“ category, before all the landing zones for Eriksson disappeared. I’m well aware there is currently next to zero chance any team is going to take him at this point of the off season.

And that’s why he’s still on the market. What he “wants“ and what he “gets” could be two wildly different things in a month or two.

Never mind the money. Why would he sign in Vancouver. Why would Vancouver pay him any amount.

      He is not coming here.
