IF this Bruins team were to suck

Description
The Bruins will probably be fine, but with talks of maybe a shortened season any type of bad/slow start could derail a season for any team. Totally hypothetical situation here. Just trying to gauge the value of our players if we end up do sucking and have a bit of a fire sale.

Krejci: I assume he'll have to be moved with some sort of retained money, idk if that drives his value up to multiple higher round picks. 2nd's may be more appropriate with a condition on one of them? I chose Vegas mainly because of the Stastny trade. Maybe COL could be another landing spot? Too early to tell who needs what come the TDL.

Halak: I think this is probably the absolute best return you could get for Halak. I think I would call him a low end starter, his play definitely benefits being a back up, but he has about a 40% game share. I picked BUF because I kinda think they're gonna be a decent team who might try and make a push for the playoffs. Idk their goalie situation outside Hutton was another reason why.

Ritchie: This move has been accepted by EDM fans so I just stuck with it.

Kase: If we end up being sellers, one of the reason will be that the Kase experiment has failed. I've seen him being moved for a 2nd on here but a result of him not producing/working out in BOS would probably decrease his value a bit so I dropped it to a 3rd round pick.

Tuukka: I was going to move him but I decided against it. If I included him in this mock I was gonna retain 35% for two 2nd's to any team that needs a goalie.

Chara: I only think its right to trade Chara if he asks to be moved to a contender. If he wants to ride out his last year here I'm perfectly fine with that as I assume all Bruins fans would be.

Expansion Protection List:
F: Marchy, Bergy, Pasta, Coyle, DeBrusk, Smith, Bjork
D: McAvoy, Carlo, Grizz
G: Vladar?
EXP Draft Guess: John Moore, Bruins pay Oskar Steen and a 4th to SEA to take John Moore in EXP draft (This trade value could be all out of wack)

The boston bruins like Ondrej kase.

I don’t understand how this is such a hard concept to grasp on this website.

Other than that, this is a good way to go about things if they stink. Maybe Tuukka would be willing to get moved for a playoff run. Probably not though.

Yeah I dont have a problem with Kase, mostly because we've only seen him play 15 or so games. But I think if we were in a position to be sellers he'd be a prime candidate to get moved based off trade value alone. Maybe Bjork instead? Depending on where Lauko is in his development.

Thanks for having a little logic with this post rather than some BS "bruins will suck next year" stupidity.

I think the Bruins will be just fine. They lost a PP specialist and added a great 5v5 forward. They get a full year of Kase who I still think will be a big part of the team and I'm excited to see what the youth at D can do. They just won the Presidents trophy and lost a close series to the team that won the Cup. My perfect offseason would've been to sign Hall and deal Debrusk for a Hanafin type dman but Im not the GM

I think with the financial situation being what it is, the odds of a successful fire sale are slim to none. Most teams looking for the kinds of players you propose trading do not have the cap space available to take on those contracts without sending similar money back to Boston. The team's that do have cap space either don't have enough budget, or are looking for other pieces.

It's going to be really difficult for competitive teams with aging cores to sustain their window of opportunity.

Yeah but here I've traded all rentals. I would think retaining the amount of money I did on Krejci would be enough to fit under a buyers team cap especially his pro-rated cap hit. Plus every other rental asset here besides Krejci is cheap money. All under $2.5ish AAV. I get what you're saying, some teams may not be physically able to financially support deadline moves but there will be buyers out there. I could see the trade deadline being quieter than usual though.

Yeah I agree with everything you said, I'm pumped to see if Don really porked that 2015 draft or not. It'd be nice if Zboril and Senyshyn just broke out this upcoming season lol. I know we have a chance at Hoffman too, adding him would make me feel a lot better about next season, but only time will tell with where he'll end up signing. I've tried making a lot of different mocks on different avenues we could try and take but there's really nothing that makes sense when trying to explore a trade. One idea I kind of liked was a mock I did sending DeBrusk and Lauzon to CAR for Nino, Fleury and a 3rd. But that's about it.
