If you offered Cernak $2.25 million, there are 18 teams that will dangle an offer sheet in his face over $1 million higher.

I think that Cirelli is overpaid at $4.333, Sergachev's deal looks reasonable.

There aren't a single offer sheet coming, and to be fair I'm using a comparable here. If I recall correctly, Esa Lindell signed a similar kind of contract after his ELC expired...

Cernak is a 23 year old 6'3", 233 lbs, right handed, beast of a shutdown D-man. Lindell's contract might be slightly comparable, but that was signed over three years ago by a Dallas team who didn't have a disaster of a cap situation like Tampa does. Tampa is ripe to be picked, and you can bet every dollar you have that Boston isn't going to come to their rescue.

I mean they'll absolutely come to the rescue if they get a favorable deal for themselves. And imo they do. Ofc they're after strengthening their team. It's a win-win deal.

Kilhorn and McDonagh are both 31, one is signed until he's 37 at $6.75 million, and the other until he's 34 at $4.45 million. Kase turns 25 next month, Moore 29 with a reasonable 3 year cap hit, Bjork turns 25 in December with 3 years at a very reasonable cap hit, and Vaakanainen - a former 1st round pick - is 21 years old and Boston still hasn't seen what he can do. This deal wrecks Boston's cap for the next 6 years, and has them watch some of their best youth leave. All to bank on a serious cup run in the next 2-3 years, which all roads lead through Tampa.

I mean I've posted this exact trade from Bruins point of view, and their fans were more or less for it. Their window is closing with Bergeron and Marchand aging, so getting better now should be in their interest. And I do believe this year is an upgrade. McDonagh is a certain top pair LHD for them and Killorn brings some physicality and attitude to their 2nd line.

No chance Boston goes for this, for the very reason you just mentioned. They have an aging core and they would be getting MUCH older with this deal. Don't get me wrong, I hate Boston (2010 Cup Finals), but Boston would need to stock up on geriatric meds, depends and Viagra for these players in a couple years. They would essentially be betting their future on a cup in 2021 or 2022. After that, they're done.

Boston is gonna suck anyway when those two start declining so I'd probably bet on going full speed ahead while they still can, because a rebuild is awaiting in 5 years time. McDonagh and Killorn are both much more of help than the assets offered here.

Good deals .. as a Tampa and Boston fan .. more Tampa now of course .. Mc Donough to Bruins could be one of best trades around .. Bs desperate for a true shut down 1 LD to pair with Mc Avoy or pair with Carlo for a shutdown pair .. immediate "A" and manageable contract and he should continue to perform into upper 30s as he is not a "speed guy" and D age well.

With Bs getting Smith no need for Killorn
Take away Bjork from deal.
