I think playing 3rd pair minutes not against the other teams best will be helpful & it's one year & gives the Leafs flexibility going forward.
Feel free to go get two quality D with term & waive bye to one at the expansion draft. So why not buy low, give a lesser role & have cap space for next season.

I wish the Sharks would make that trade for Kerfoot, but I don't think they're doing anything until they hear back regarding Labanc.
