Of course not! And Lundqvist still has some positive trade value, especially at half price. That's why I'm offering two good players at positions where the Caps have extras.

Panik finished 22nd in points/60 this year among right wings who played at least 20 games.
http://www.nhl.com/stats/skaters?report=scoringRates&reportType=season&seasonFrom=20192020&seasonTo=20192020&gameType=2&position=R&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,20&sort=pointsPer605v5,goalsPer605v5&page=0&pageSize=100

He's just not Oshie or Wilson, and Reirden didn't seem to like him.

Kempny tied for 38th in even strength points by a left shot defenseman this year, and finished 7th in plus/minus.

http://www.nhl.com/stats/skaters?reportType=season&seasonFrom=20192020&seasonTo=20192020&gameType=2&position=D&shootsCatches=L&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,20&sort=plusMinus&page=0&pageSize=100

He also plays top pair on a recent champ, and assisted on a Cup-winning goal. But the Caps have an awful lot of good LHD, most of them cheaper.

Kempny? Siegenthaler, Orlov.

That doesn't change the fact that the value is skewed heavily in WSH's favor. Would you trade Connor McMichael for Jesper Fast and Ryan Lindgren? I didn't think so...

There's really no other option. I doubt there's really any trade interest considering his contract and the amount of goalies available in UFA. And if there is trade offer and it's anything like this trash, they'll definitely be buying him out...

Rangers would take this deal. I think there's a good chance he signs with the Caps when they buy him out anyway.

If you think *Nils* is that valuable, make a counteroffer? WSH has only two RHD under contract and could use one. That doesn't mean they can't give back a less amazing prospect or two. Maybe, Brett Leason and a 5th? Or what would you want?

oh stats from over 2 years ago.. cool.. meanwhile he makes almost 8m vs fox's 925k for the next two seasons.. is 28 vs 22.. put up 52 points vs fox's 42 this year (and if i have to make this clear fox is a defenseman). Fox was +7.5 rel CF% this year, kuznetsov was -7.1... oh yeah and BTW his playoff stats this year was 5 points in 8 games and was -4 +/-.. you can cherry pick stats all you want but so can I

Fox was 2nd in points at his position on his team. His cap hit is just lovely and gives him some value.

Kuznetsov has led the league in points. His cap hit is immaterial.

And check out Fox' zone starts. Of Rangers regulars, only Panarin and Deangelo played easier minutes. It's like he's playing tee ball, and Kuznetsov's playing baseball. Yeah, there are more strike outs in baseball than tee ball. That's okay.

Actually, a McMichael for Lundkvist swap is intriguing. Rangers need a good young center and Washington needs a good young RHD. Both have a surplus of the other...

Not interesting. Not close. Nils's first year in the WJC-20, he got 2 points in 8 games. McMichael's first year in that same tournament, he got seven in seven. Not close at all. Drink less. Math more.

Well, considering McMichael has really proven nothing beyond being able to dominate within his own age bracket (players like Nail Yakupov, Pavel Brendl, and Nicklas Jensen all did the same, if not better, and we all know how they ended up) whereas Lundkvist has been records for defenseman at his age (surpassing players like Erik Karlsson, Matthias Ohlund, Adam Larsson, Rasmussen Dahlin and Victor Hedman) in a league against men, you may find that their doesn’t seem to be much of a chasm in value at all! There’s more to a prospects resume then WJC stats...

I understand that points in swedish leagues are more valuable than points in juniors. Definitely get that. Grown professionals are bigger and stronger and have more experience, so playing against them should be tougher. I think that Nils is closer to NHL ready than McMichael. But he's also a draft class older. Age is important in prospect evaluation. McMichael has time. But I just read that he was in the playoff bubble this year, practicing with the team. So he's probably not too, too far off.

If you're arguing that once a prospect shows they can play against grown-ups, it's just a short step to the NHL and they can't regress, I mean, look at ten AHL players' stats, and you'll find a couple who had down years. Some bounce back. Some don't. Yakupov is still having ups and downs, but now in the KHL. His first year back after the NHL, he got 33 points in 47 games, which sounds impressive. This year he's started off with just 3 points in 7 games, which doesn't. But you know what, maybe the Rangers could sign him and get him going again. I don't know that he ever played on an NHL team that had another Russian player on it, so joining Panarin and Buchnevich could help him adjust better to the North American game, the second time around. The Caps don't have a roster spot for a project this year, because their window is closing, but what if Yakupov really does possess unique skill? What if he just needs a supportive environment?

It would definitely be interesting lol but not sure where he would fit, the wings are pretty crowded. Idk, you could bring him in and put him on the third line and run:

Ovi-Backstrom-Wilson
Vrana-Kuzy-Oshie
Panik-Eller-Yak
Hags-Dowd-Hathaway
