Hallander is not NHL ready and playing him on the 3rd C is just wrong. Maybe in a year or two tho

That is a crap trade with Anahiem. Plus with Robertson on the team we need room from bonuses and LTIR would make that difficult

What is fascination with Kesler. He doesn't help the Leafs cap, and why does he hurt the Ducks financially when he is in on LTIR?
Dermot and Kerfoot are way too much give up for the now average Manson. And just to give away the competent Holl is foolish Hallander at 3C next year? Maroon signing for the minimum for the Leafs?
Too many holes were made just to fill the fascination of two RHDs from other teams.

So the Leafs literally cannot offer that contract. Only at Louis can give 8 years.

Your bottom 2 C's are a terrible idea. Hallander is nowhere near ready for that.

The question for Kesler is if he's insured or not. Plenty of players contracts aren't insured and less financially flush teams don't want to pay them. That's how we got Columbus to trade Horton for Clarkson and way back when how we got Franson for taking on Lombardi, and then Lombardi actually improved enough to play

For the record I have no idea if Kesler is insured

I’m pretty sure all player contracts are insured now. As far as I know Horton is the last uninsured contract on ltir.

Do you have a source? My understanding was insurance was expensive up to 1/3 of the contract for older players so a lot of teams gamble

Interesting thanks.

20% uninsured isn't that much then

Nope, These ltir contractscaren’t worth much value taking over in a trade. That’s why you’ve never seen much of a return for them.

The "insurability" of players depends on pre existing conditions. Horton had back issues before therefore was not insurable. Why no team would ever want to take on Keslier LTIR is that within 3 years he just might be deemed medically fit and therefore off LTIR. But I find even a Dermot and Kerfoot for Manson a bad trade for the Leafs.

Yup agreed about Manson. As far as insured contracts most big money deals are insured. Horton is the last “full time ltir” contract which is not insured. But a very good point. Leafs do not want a 6m+ Kessler against them cap.
