Description
Now, to set the record straight, I am a die hard Sabres fan and probably always will be, I'm making this team because (to give Leafs fans hope) I believe that they CAN make the playoffs this year, but there definitely has to be a few changes.

Glad to know our friends in our sister city across the lake want to help the Leafs. Here's a few suggestion though.....Robidas has retired, but I believe his cap hit 2.025m will still count this year cause he was plus 35 years when signing his contract (thanks Dave Nonis). Lupul will at least start the season on LTIR. Soshnikov hasn't played this pre season due to injury so he probably starts in the Marlies. Hyman and Brown probably start with the Leafs.
Don't forget the addition of RHD Zaitsev, 24 year old KHL all star. He looks like a fine Dman who seems have "it" up and down the ice.

Would like those draft picks from the Rangers, but would rather stick with Kadri and not Nash.

I hope I have this right. The Sabres went from 54 to 81 points in one year.....mostly with the addition of one player Eichel and of course the overall improvement of the players that on the team.
The Leafs had 68 points last year. You want think the additions of Matthews, Nylander, Marner, Zaitsev and Andersen could improve the Leafs considerably. Maybe not the playoffs this year but definitely closer.

Glad to see the Bills got rolling last week.

Johnson/Lehner/Ullmark [I'll combine the goalies, because they were all new]

Nash is still a high end 1st line stud. 30-30 coming at worst in a full season.

Nash has scored over 30 goals and near 60 points 1 time in the last 3 years. Alot of those season were shortened due to injury etc but I'm not sure if he is a 30-30 guy anymore (different than pacing at 30-30)

If referring to my comment. Just my opinion, but I don't want Nash taking away time from any of the Leafs young wingers. Leafs aren't going to the Conference Finals with or without Nash. Currently the Leafs are short of quality NHL centres....Imagine if Bozak gets hurt (which has been happening lately), do you want Matthews carrying the load at centre. I certainly don't want Laich, Holland being in the top three centres on the Leafs.

I guess we will know by April.....is Nash still a 30-30 guy?

Kadri isn't worth a 2nd round pick + Nash, never mind the first round pick

Sorry but Kadri is a great asset to our team, He's going to protect Matthews for now, but eventually he'll be the perfect 2nd line center on a really good contract. He kills penalties, can play powerplay and best of all he draws more penalties than any other player in the NHL. He's got some intangibles and I can't see him being moved

But he just scored 42 two years ago. Look at his shooting % last year. Someone with his skill set still getting shots = goals are coming. 30-35 is almost a lock.

Well he did 42-27 two years ago so.... He is only 32 years old. Tough to just write him off.

The Rangers aren't giving up those drafts, and why I still can't figure out....WHY the rebuilding Leafs need a 32 year old LWer making 7.8m a year? Shirley, there are better ways to rebuild.

I'd take it to get a pick. He is elite. You could trade JVR for help elsewhere and still have an experienced vet.
