Yeah I'm not proud of it lol. I toyed with Russell + Puljujarvi to MIN but I don't think subtracting Russell and adding a salary-retained Johansson is enough for EDM to give up Puljujarvi. There would have to be more going back from MIN.

Likely would have had to have been like Ladd + Leddy + Bellows for Parise type of deal, MIN has the space too. I just don’t think cap worked for either side so guess it makes sense why it fell through.

Don’t care if they are rebuilding. This trade is awful unless the wild get back more or take on less trash. The trade that was going to happen was Ladd, bellows, a 1st and another pick for koivu and parise with some retained salary on parise. You basically equated koivu with a 1st.

The deal was actually a 20201st + bellows +ladd for koivu + parise (with salary retained). Once koivu refused to waive his NMC, the isles acquired and signed pageau. After that the deal was pretty much dead.

No way that was the move! That’s crazy, I’m not an isles fan but I’m glad that deal fell through, I’d rather have Pageau + Bellows than have Parise and Koivu haha, easier to maneuver ladds contract than parise (even with retention). Also I have no idea why koivu wouldn’t waive his NMC.... not like he’s staying in MIN anyways and would’ve had a real shot at the cup. I thought the deal fell through due to cap issues, at least that’s what they were saying on Sportsnet on trade deadline day. Also, honestly that trade would’ve been a big win for MIN imo.

yeah, I’m assuming retention on parise was minimum 3 mill so he would cost 4.5 mill , but still I’m glad it fell through although with cap expected to go up it did make some sense.

Now it makes no sense with the flat cap, unless the wild want to retain 50% and take ladd. They’re obviously not going to do that which is why the deal is dead.

For some reason the isles organization isn’t that high on bellows , I’m assuming that has to do with trotz because in his Nashville days he had a big influence on who poile drafted an acquired. It wouldn’t be the worst thing if bellows was moved to dump a contract, but I’d rather keep him.

Isles need to shed cap. This deal isn't dead yet, but MIN needs to retain on Parise AND take back someone like Komarov. Otherwise it can't happen

Ladd + komarov + bellows + a 1st for parise (50% retained) is the only way the isles should do the deal and the wild likely won’t do that so that so that’s why it is pretty much dead .
