Marino isn’t even touchable. So that’s a no go from Pittsburgh. Wouldn’t even do it Nylander, 4th, and 5th for Marino straight up.
But here is a counter for you. Nylander and Reilly for Murray, Hornqvist, Johnson, and a 4th lol.

There are better goalies available who cost just money. Buffalo won’t do that.

Well Marino would be the best defenseman on the Leafs. So you should see why he is untouchable from the Penguins side.

That's hilarious. He's the third best defender on Toronto without even a question.
It's amazing leaf fans get crapped on for homerism when there is nonsense like this floating around.
This is worse than hawks fans and murphy

He's untouchable from the Pens perspective because of Letang's age and the lack of RD prospects in the system. Untouchable is always a relative term, it has nothing to do with straight up talent.

They are saying he is untouchable. You are making up all the other rationale yourself.

I dunno, some people are saying pretty crazy things like how the pens would block the leafs number or that marino would be the leafs best defender.
You know, hilarious and outlandish things

Kind of like 1 bad season from Murray makes him the worst goalie to ever live and the 2nd worst person to ever live next to Jack Johnson?

no, not like that at all. See one guy literally only has one season where he was 'good'. not amazing, just ok, at the age of 23 after having a forgetable career before that. The other one has an extensive body of work at the NHL level that shows various ups and downs.

I don’t think you’ve watched a pens game this year if you think Marino did “just ok” lol.

Murray is a massive risk, never been a particularly great goalie, and was one of the worst goalies in the league this year.

His first two years he had a .930 save percentage and a .923 save percentage. 3 of his 5 years at least a .919 save percentage. Sure last year was bad, but he played well vs MTL. Factor in he has had to play behind an anchor of a 3rd pair (particularly JJ) the past two years and his dad dying. I don’t think his numbers last year are an indication of what would be to come. Last year was particularly bad because johnson played half the year as a top pair defenseman. No goalie would really play well behind that.

GSAA:
16-17: 12.28 (6th)
17-18: -12.98 (5th worst)
18-19: 18.03 (2nd)
19-20: -12.07 (7th worst)
19-20 playoffs: -0.9/gp (8th worst min 2GP)

Murray will either end up being a pretty good goalie, or a terrible Jones like contract. It's perfectly reasonable to avoid him unless your team is in a position where it is worth that risk.

I don’t know where you got those numbers from cause I just looked it up on hockey reference and his worst GSAA was this past season at -11.80. 3 of his 5 years were in the positive. And GSAA doesn’t really tell the whole story cause again, the pens have Jack Johnson. And when he is on the ice, the opposing team is usually getting quality scoring chances. Also he plays a lot of pk minutes, which GSAA doesn’t really take into account either. But the pens have been prone to taking lots of penalties. Especially stupid ones by Letang (our best d pk) and geno. Also goalies who play more will likely have a better GSAA. With Murray having the injury bug 17-18 & 18-19, and Jarry getting hot taking the starting role for a portion of the year this past year it’s no surprise his GSAA was bad this year.

I got those numbers from Natural Stat Trick.

If you want some better numbers, here is his WAR

tells the same story.

You can't blame a goalies entire fault with a single 3rd pair D.

Sure it’s not entirely JJ’s fault, but he is mostly to blame. Even Jarry played poorly after the all star break when Johnson was put on the first pair after dumo’s injury. So I’d say that’s pretty solid proof that having an anchor on defense that ended up getting a lot of ice time had an effect on the goalies. Heck in the Montreal series, all but like 3 goals against had JJ and Schultz on the ice.
