Kerfoot does nothing for us. We need someone who can kill penalties, and that's not Kerfoot.

actually kerfoot can. Dont know why keefe never put him there and went for his more experienced guys in Hyman and Kapenan who yes had the experience but could not win a faceoff as wings rarely do well at those.

Kerfoot was very good 5 vs. 5 defensively and during the playin showed why he should be on the pk. Sure his FOW% sucked but thanks to Manny Malhotra thats gonna change for the better.

Still i dont think Dubas is gonna move him as he likes him and honestly i see him rebounding to a 40point player next season.

i said that lul. He was good and with Malhotra as the assistant coach, his FOW will be in the 60% range

Maybe he's improved, but he was a liability while he was with the Avs. Either way, I don't see it happening.

Or you could just stop taking bad penalties? Kerfoot really isn’t as bad as you think anyway. Makes sense for each team to swap Kerfoot/Jost as Toronto is trying to cut salary and Colorado needs depth scoring as well as help on special teams, which he can provide some

If Colorado is having trouble on the penalty kill (they are) one player isn’t going to make a difference and Jost provides nothing there anyway.

If Col liked Kerfoot more than Jost then they would have put the other in the Kadri deal. Obviously they don't have interest

"Or you could just stop taking bad penalties?" is a pretty terrible argument. Should they clean it up a bit? Yeah, but everyone takes penalties. And no, one player isn't going to solve all our PK problems, but Kerfoot doesn't move the needle there for me. He's also a good $2 million more expensive than Jost, and as we've seen so far this offseason, cash is king. Not a move the Avs need to make, nor will it be one.

It’s really not.. Avs shot themselves in the foot more often than not in the playoffs. No matter how good your PK is they’re going to get chances by doing that. You don’t spend a premium on PKers, they can be had for cheap. Add someone like Lewis or Clifford on that fourth line, change up your special teams coach or strategy and then you’re set. Calvert hurt was a big loss for them so technically it’s two penalty killers at least. If there is a problem with the depth forwards not being responsible on the penalty kill you’ve got to gut half the team.

Avs also have a ridiculous amount of cap space so paying $1 million extra for a better player really isn’t a stretch. I don’t know where you’re getting $2 million from as Jost likely is going to be $2.5-2.75 per on a bridge deal. I’m assuming you think he’s getting like $1.75 which is too low

Avs were shot in the foot by injuries. PK obviously didn't help, but your PK% is going to look like **** when your starting and backup goalies are hurt. And I couldn't agree more on not spending money on PK players, that's why I don't want Kerfoot. Calvert was a huge loss for us and with Landy out with the cut, it just wasn't going to go well moving forward in the playoffs.

As for the cap space, this is the last year that they'll be able to use cap space as a strength. They'll be a cap team moving forward, so again, I'd prefer to use that money elsewhere. As for Jost's contract, unless he takes a cheaper deal to come back with the Avs, then he's probably gone. He'd be the 12th or 13th forward on the Avs next year.

My point is you use the money on areas of need: depth scoring or goaltending. It doesn’t make sense to go after a big fish for $6-7 million, so to spend only a million more and get a good depth scorer who can produce 40 points consistently make sense. They still would have enough money to address the goaltending if they want to, it would mean Zadorov is moved out but they still can do it

Look at Tampa this year with the amount of depth they have. They needed to fix their special teams and get a bit heavier so they weren’t run over again, they did so cheaply. But they have a ton of players who can produce 40 points easily on good contracts.

Well you are least got the 1st part right.

Also saying "x happens all the time" still doesn't take a post that makes no sense and changes that.
