crazy how flames fans would rather have a 4th liner than their best starting goalie since Kipper.

Crazy how we could just resign the goalie we have right now, likely for cheaper, and who has actually been good recently and not have to give up our best playoff performer

I think past playoff performances argue against your "actually been good recently" position.

Okay but you guys barely even made the playoffs this year and are talking about trading your two best players so why exactly do you need a "playoff performer" to get eliminated in the 1st round?

Would that be the playoffs where he got swept by the Islanders or the playoffs he didn’t even make them because he couldn’t beat the 24th best team in the league in a bo5?

Murray was the only reason we won game 2 this year bud

I’d rather get eliminated in the first round than not even make the dance. We’re only considering trading our top guys for a shake up that would improve the team, not giving them away for free, the goal is still to be a playoff team, just one that gets further. To that end, trading high quality, cheap, young depth for mediocre goaltending is not how you succeed in general.

He was below average in this playoffs, bad last playoffs, and atrocious this regular season. He’s shown flashes of his 2016-17 playoff self, but he’s wildly inconsistent at best, and bad most of the time these days. He lost his job to DeSmith for a stretch last year, and lost it to Jarry this year. Not a good track record.

I think I’m confused on your point then. Mine is that the Flames would be better off resigning Talbot than giving up assets for Murray, what’s yours?

No, I think you are correct. I'm the one confused. You were speaking of Murray; I was thinking of Talbot. I was the one who confused the two. I don't think Talbot is the better option for the Flames than Murray. Sorry for the confusion.

Who's talking about trading our two best players? impatient fans? I don't think Tre listens to them

Bennett is as much of a 4th liner as Malkin is a 2C

Crazy how he’s 34 and better suited for a backup role. Calgary won’t win anything with a Ritich/Talbot duo

Yeah Bennett with his 12 points in 52 games this season. Sure he had a great playoffs, but that’s a small sample size. He’s a fringe 3rd liner

This playoffs he was put at center for the first time in 4 years. And was also not stuck on a line with Jankowski for that same time period. Turns out when you dont have offensive black holes as linemates you actually perform
