Sharks quickly decline. Horrible. If you want Meier, we need Gallagher in return. Yes, Meier is quickly becoming our best forward and one of the best power forwards in the league. Hes not going to be cheap.

Add term to Hoffman's deal; PIT won't take Weal but I assume it's a " anywhere " trade.

How much more do I need to add? A first? Another prospect?

Mike Hoffman is pretty much a 30 goal per season winger. Probably going to be closer to 4 x $6.5m to sign him.

Forget the SJ trade,

Ship Domi for a mid to late 1st and Mete for a late 2nd somewhere in the west.

Then slot Kovalchuk up the lineup, and roll Byron into the 3rd spot.

Saves you money for future signings, and presumably if healthy, gives you more depth.

I really like Byron, but his deal will almost become a cap dump soon. He has 3 more years on a relatively big deal. In my opinion, we should move it asap.

Interesting. How about Meier for Danault, Harris and a first?

it's not great in the flat cap, and given his recent injuries.

though, if he returns to pre-injury performance, a grinding c/w who gets 20 goals and kills penalties is definitely worth $3.4M.

I like how he was versatile enough to slot up and down the lineup.

I can agree with that, but I am skeptical that he can stay healthy and put up the points. He won't be playing the same amount of minutes as he used to.

Nope. Not even going to be considered without Gallagher coming to SJ. You want our best forward, we need yours. Without Meier we have no chance next season.

So getting a player who finished 6th in Selke voting, was one of the leader in faceoff percentage and was an all-around great player for the Habs this season, arguably top 3 foward on the team, plus one of our better defensive prospects and a first isn't the same as Gallagher.

you are thinking about this way to 1 dimensionally, what incentive does SJ have to trade Meier, none, unless its an offer that cannot be refused. Sharks hold Meier's rights, and he still hasn't even hit his potential, Danault is a 1 year rental for a 2C we don't need.

I agree that the Sharks aren’t trading Meier. Also, Danault is better than Gallagher. Gallagher’s probably our 3rd best forward after Phil & Suzuki.

Yes but i like Gally’s character and that comes in very handy in the playoffs.

As @Klara stated, we dont need to trade Meier. Hes probably worth more to us than he is to you not to even mention he hasnt even gotten close to his potential yet. Meier will likely be a perennial 65-75 point player for years to come and he is an absolute gamer in the playoffs. Hes not going to the block unless the offer is overwhelming.
