Colin sorta laid out why it is so tough trading 1st rounders for teams that will likely be out of the playoffs....Is the pick 1st or 14th? IMO the Leafs defence is OK, and two trade two prime assests (Dermot and let's say 10th pick) isn't the new Leaf way.

Changed a couple of the trades to make it more realistic... this gives the canucks over 5 mill in cap space, and with miller not likely to re-sign after this season, will give them over 11 million to re-sign a few young players (Horvat, Daisaitl, Gudbransson, Hutton, Tryamkin). Demko will be backup at rookie max.

The only trades here that make sense are the ones where very little is happening. Sbisa and Etem. Otherwise, nice try but not in a blue moon do any of those happen. (Ok now that i think about maybe the Tanev trade. I'll let Leafs fans decide that one)

Why would Buffalo match that offer? That's probably less then what they are both negotiating at right now........ Think closer 6.5M long term.
