Dougie isn't getting out of Carolina, I don't think. He was on pace for serious Norris contention this season before he was injured. He's exactly what the Leafs could use (right shot, good pass, good mobility, great shot, all-around stud defenseman with size) but you'd have to pay a king's ransom. Goalies tend to not go for all that much in the trade market. I'd think that a Dougie trade would start at Nylander, likely with a 1st and a prospect, with the canes sending Dougie and a depth forward... but the canes don't need another forward really? (Although they surprised me with their moves at the trade deadline this year.)

I think they want a top 6 winger that can improve scoring

For Dougie, they'd want half a new top 6

The Canes better sign him during the season...or else he might get tempted to sell himself off to the highest bidder or go home like J.T. did (rumor was highest bid was 13 mill from SJS or go home for 11 mill).

Looks at the E. Karlsson trade (Norris trophy winner with 1 season left expiring UFA contract)....1st and two 2nd Rd picks...2 "meh" roster players (one UFA and one RFA retainable) and one "A" and one "B" level prospects....

yes you are right

*sarcasm* alert

That was an EK who only had 1 leg, and had only had one leg for a few years. This is a younger, healthy D man who should have won the norris this year had Carlson not played with Ovechkin. By every metric, he's more dominant than EK ever was (in the regular season at least)

I've been a Canes fan since 2000 buddy, so shut up. By every metric, Dougie is the most dominant D man in hockey. Carolina are gonna want more than a 4th line winger, a goalie downgrade and a future 1st. So if you think that's enough, I suggest you get your head checxked kiddo

LOL a goalie downgrade...Andersen is better then both Marazek and Reimer.... LOOOOOOL yeah. a 4th line winger doesnt put up 45 pts.... and 1st round pick.
Youre too inlove with your team, again it makes sense since you just discovered hockey 2 years ago

Johnsson has an xGF/xGA differential that is worse than Lucic. He's a 4th liner.

Andersen's GSAA, fSv% and dFSv% are all worse than Reimer and Mrazek.

Yes, it's a downgrade. Stats don't lie kiddo, although you still may be having trauma after the Zamboni drive incident.

Why is this even reasonable for the Leafs? 21 man roster and no cap doesn't work. Next season, gotta find another two million (maybe more) just topay Hamilton in a flat cap league.

By the way, from what a know of Hamilton, he never has had left love for the Leafs and their organization (especially in the Burke era). Leafs would be just one of 32 teams vying for his UFA services.

Can anyone tell me why the Canes would even be interested in Andersen?

Ok than by your own statement I wonder how the Canes fit 15+ million contract under their salary cap, because Dougie is 1 and 1/2 times better than EK65.

That's not what I said, and the beauty of a flat cap means he won't make more than EK. He probably makes the same as Pietrangelo, which Carolina can easily fit under the cap. So please stop with the crap?
