He's not one of the best 2 way D lol. He's not even as good as Rielly.

He's similar to Pulock. If he has a bargain contract I wonder what Pulock's gonna get. 8Mx5?

Learn the difference between cap hit and salary. Actually after ekblad received a 4 milllion dollar signing bonus on July 1st, he is now owed 31 million dollars in next 5 years, which is 6.2 mill per year.

Ekblad is better than pulock and signed an 8 year deal. Pulock will get 6 mill x 5, if he signs for 8 years he’ll get closer to 7 mill.

Panthers are also a extremely low budget team, and Nylander compared to Ekblad saves them $10.5M in real cash. & Ekblad is not a true #1. He's a good #2 but doesn't have the offence of a #1. A package of Nylander plus another cheap NHL roster player and a pick is well within range of his value

Top pairing d-man can skate and keep up with any team in the league. Pulock is not that. Yes I will always trust the eye test for that. Analytics aren't everything, they'll never be able to tell the whole story.

Pulock's better at positioning and defensively.

If you're saying potential wise Ekblad has a higher ceiling I can agree with that but right now they're pretty equal (Pulock might even be better).

I guess you must've read pulock's scouting report from his draft year. Pulock's skating has greatly improved over the last 3 years and he has very good 4 way mobility and because he thinks the game at a high level, hes able to produce as a top pairing Dman.

Analytics > your eye test. When people say analytics don't tell the whole story its usually because what it tells doesn't support their narrative.

I like the idea of the trade as the leafs get a top pair guy with term and is in the correct age bracket. Florida is probably going to lose both dadonov and Hoffman (possibly haula) they are in desperate need of forward support(also shedding cap). Obviously the leafs add in a deal like this. Maybe Kerfoot or Dermot plus a draft pick or prospect. This would be a tough trade to make but it would certainly be fun
