Game 2 lines
I believe the lineup will be the same (obviously bunting will be suspended). Jarnkrok on the 1st line. Same 2nd line. Knies taking Jarnkrok spot as 3rd lw. Same 4th line. Can't see the defense changing. Schenn wasn't the problem I don't see him coming out.

I think I'd rather have Barrie in the mix instead of Stetcher, to start the season. There's plenty of cap space for Barrie here. He can still get moved at the deadline, if NSH is out of the race.</div></div>
Yeah, feels like a situation with Barrie where he has a really good year on the pp then gets dealt at 50% for a good return. I still wouldn't be surprised if they are a wildcard team

Wow. Kinda suck tbh. I'd like to see these teams face at full health as an outside viewer. Still will be an intense series

Any news on the LA injury front? Cause if they don't have Vilardi or Fiala that will drastically change the series.

What happened with the big college defensmen they signed? I completely forgot about him till I saw him playing at the end of the year. Based on this I'm guessing you didn't see much.

is this a wildcard team
I like the Dubois move, and its almost a certainty Caulfield gets that deal. In saying that, this team doesn't compete with the rest of the east. Ottawa, Buffalo and Detroit were all better this year while all getting better and thats simply the division.
I'm curious to see what they do with slaf. I'm not high on him, and he may need some ahl time to get comfortable in NA. I'd start him, Farrell and Roy in the ahl. If they can dominate then you call them up later in the year.
I see from your comments that you believe in the defensive group. Matheson had been great, Savard is always a steady presence. Guhle looks to be a potential top 4 guy and Xhekaj looks like an nhl player. In saying this, it's still a weak group. I'd like to see a legit player beside Matheson. Barron is fine, but should be in a position to play big minutes. Getting another guy to take that spot would really help set the defense.
The will struggle to score goals next year unless a prospect truly breaks out. Goaltending also isn't wildcard level. I don't see them as a wildcard team for probably 2 ish seasons but they could absolutely prove me wrong.

very exciting roster
I really like what poile has given this team on his way out. Question is will it continue? Or is this a quick reset and continue to be competitive. I see them as a potential playoff team since the west is weak, but how competitive in the playoffs will they be? Just imagine what they could get for Saros. That is the position that I'm curious about. I dont watch Nashville as much as others, but what's the plan there? They extended lankinen who has been real solid, and have a future #1 in the minors with askarov who I'd think will be getting a shot sooner than later. Also again I haven't seen much, but why the hell was tomasino not on this roster for the majority of the year? I loved the pick and he's been a steal. Played most of the year last year and was pretty good. Why did they take so long to move him up? I see him as a future good top 6 forward.

After the bonus is paid, the Myers deal makes sense. 6m cap hit with a 1m salary would be very appealing to that terrible organization. He does have a no move/trade clause so not sure if he'd accept it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BRUINS_STAN_MAN</b></div><div>He's a legend.
At the beginning of the season I thought this was his last go for sure. I've kind of come around to the idea that he might come back for one more. I think the coaching change has a lot do with it. They seem to be having so much fun, playing looser, and having success.
Whether or not he's able to perform at a top level will remain to be seen. This is why I think they need to make a move for a center this off season. It hasn't been officially reported but Krejci isn't coming back. I guess he only wanted one year back here.
So bc Krejci is gone, you'd need to fill either 2c or slide zacha to 2c and fill the hole at 2lw. Hypothetically, you could get away with re-signing bertuzzi but if Bergeron leaves then you have a massive hole.</div></div>
I hope he's back, but let's say he isn't. Really curious what happens there. Centers are few and far between. With retention I wonder if they look at Nashville for Duchene/RJ. Sharks say hertl is untouchable.... but he'd be a great fit and they wanted him. Logan couture at retention? Still a decent player. Philly has Hayes, but I don't think he is a bruin type guy. Couturier on the other hand would be absolutely perfect. I really hope his career isn't over with all the injuries. If he's healthy that is such a great fit. Nick schmaltz might work, but he's a winger/center combo. The easy fix is to have Bergeron, but the conversation of the team moving forward without him has to be had imo.

Do you really think Bergeron is back next season? This seems like his last go. Could he be back and be productive? Absolutely but considering he was close to retiring last off season I don't expect to see him back. Either way what a career for him.
Could see them moving swayman if they get a C back. I don't ever count out Boston, but if they lose their top 2 centers they will need one. If O'Reilly reaches FA I'd expect them to be interested. I'd have to do some research on other potential options.

My Leafs Lines For Game 1 Against Tampa
I think this makes sense if they are down in the game. Realistically you get O'Reilly to play 3C. That gives you arguably the best center depth in the nhl. Tampa cannot match that.
The marner Matthew's bunting line will more than likely stick as a consistent line. Now look at your next 2 centers. Tavares and O'Reilly. Both can play with virtually anyone and are most useful as cycle players. This is why they can go out together in o zone draws which OReilly is a master at taking. Nylander will more than likely split time between them to give the lines a more offensive punch. Combine them with 3 complimentary wingers in kerfoot, Lafferty, Jarnkrok.
They want a veteran 4 line which can kill time in the offensive zone and be able to PK/play physical. ZAR, Kampf, Acciari. I don't like seeing young players make their debut come playoff time. That is the highest level of competition of the year. You really think knies can compete with Tampas bottom 6? Perry and maroon will eat him alive. He sits unless you cannot score.
Not sure if this all makes sense, but that's how I see it. This will be a fluid lineup where situation lines will be common. With the flexibility of bringing in 3 more center options, Keefe can do whatever he wants in game.

I feel so bad for him. Just get the deal done already. Seriously a bad look for the organization. Edmonton added, Boston added, Toronto added, looks like LA might shift to gavrikov. Soon there won't be any playoff teams left for him to go to. Obviously the ask is to high, so lower it and get it done. Players should not sit out double digit games for "trade related reasons" cause it's getting ridiculous imo.

Sandin
Already posted on the leaf version of this,
Good deal for both sides. For the Leafs, recoup a first and depth for a player not playing for them and hasn't been trusted by the coach. Same return as nils lunqvist
For the caps, they get a young dman with potential to extend their window. He hasn't been able to play a top 4 role for Toronto largely do to the fact that he is small and not fast. Not a great combination, yet he has great IQ. He can help a powerplay and throw the occasional hit. Hoping for the best for sandin on the caps.

His new value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>Just want to point out that McCabe's TOI in Chicago was 19:29 and Mayfield is at 20:47 this year. McCabe's only ever come close to that type of ice time in his career once, when he was 23 and getting 20:42 every night with the Sabres. Mayfield's also tops in ice time on the PK on the Islanders - McCabe was 4th best on Chicago, getting almost a full minute less than Mayfield does on the kill.
Mayfield's cheaper than McCabe (even with the retention) and there are always going to be teams that value a rental over a guy with term, for their own internal reasons. I don't think it's any sort of stretch to say that Mayfield could push for a 1st round return, if the Islanders were open to moving him.</div></div>
They are different players, 1 is a stay at home mean penalty killer, and the other is a more mobile neutral zone defender. Also they play on different teams where McCabe has never played on a good team, yet consistently put positive numbes. I do think Mayfield is a really good defensmen who would be a good fit on any team, but the market being what it is, it doesn't seem like is a guarantee Gavrikov gets a 1st, and he's probably the closest to Mayfield on the current market. Is it possible Mayfield gets a 1st? Yes, but it's difficult to see rn in my opinion.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>oliver_wahlstrom</b></div><div>Mayfield and McCabe are also very similar.
McCabe: 3 goal, 30 point pace. 9.7 xGAR over last 3 seasons.
Mayfield: 7 goal, 14 assist, 21 point pace. 5.4 xGAR over last 3 seasons.
Mayfield has higher point production over last three years and is more consistent. Mayfield also has had more linemates than McCabe but McCabe has been consistently going up against team's top lines so this all evens out imo.
They are close and while I dont think Mayfield could get a McCabe haul, he could easily get more than a 2nd. And Parise is on a 20 goal pace with great analytics. They could 100% fetch this</div></div>
I just see McCabe as a guy who has 2 years after this one who was playing on a really bad team yet still putting up a positive goal differential. Mayfield is still really solid and I'm not saying anything different, but with the market being what it is, orlov is gone, McCabe (reatining 2 million for 3 years) is gone. Chychrun, Gavrikov, Jensen, Ekholm, Mayfield, Klingberg etc. The market is going to crash with this amount of dmen. Unfortunately not all these guys can get 1st round picks. On Parise, he does have value, but the islanders were the only team he wanted to play for. Maybe he wants out? I haven't heard much on that front. It's a situation where he tells you where he wants to go and you do right by the player. If he goes somewhere he would probably be depth and not get the opportunity he has gotten in NY. obviously this is all speculation, but vets get around a 4th at deadline.

I don't think Mayfield compares to McCabe. McCabe was traded at 50% which means 2m for this year plus 2 more. He also plays more than Mayfield. Also jeanout was an outlier. That is not the norm. I'd expect Parise goes to a US market for a 4th and Mayfield to go for around a 2nd. He does have a small salary, but not sure if that gets him to a 1st. I'm curious to see what happens at the deadline with the clear favorites being in the east. Do west teams finally make a move? I guess we will see by Friday.

Toronto acquire goalie Demko and lose murreys salary
Hard to say how much value demko has. I doubt Toronto looks at him until the off-season if the playoffs don't go well. He has played a lot of hockey which has caused lots of injuries. I doubt it, when healthy Murray has been really solid and he needs to play before the playoffs. If he simply sits he might not be ready for the playoffs. Then let's say samsonov doesn't play well against tampa, they are going to need Murray.
Dubas said yesterday that they are going to activate him soon, so unless they have an injury look for someone above 1.1 million to be on the move.

Vancouver Fans whats the consensus return youd need for JT Miller or Garland
Vancouver fans will be realistic in trading Miller to recoup any assets they can get (should have dealt him last deadline) and garland without taking much money back in order to have some breathing room and build the team up properly.
What will actually happen? Miller traded with retention for another player who doesn't make sense for the current team and buyout garland. Then sign an old vet or 2 in free agency to be a middling team next season
