Honestly, leafs probably accept that ... if Dubas was at all open to moving marner, which he isn't. Btw dermott prob wants a little more money, 1.4-1.8, but maybe with term/new team he wouldn't care. Very intriguing trade though

I don’t know much about Dvorak but if he can develop into an actual top line centre I would be interested in that, I love Kuemper. Not huge on Marner but we need RWs I guess, I don't hate the trade. I think the play here would be to sign another top 6 guy though, like a Toffoli or a Dadonov, or trade for a guy like TyJo. Might lose Ryan or Gus tho. I think Brodie would sign for cheaper

Leafs laugh and then laugh some more. Hanafin is a great piece but leafs are loaded on the left. Monahan is good at scoring in the slot and not much else.

Monahan-Marner trade doesn't make sense. Arizona hangs up the phone straight away as Kuemper is the best goaltender in the league

So who of Matthews, Tavares, and Monahan plays 3C then? Those are three guys playing 18+ minutes a night, so someone is taking a significant TOI cut. Monahan fills no needs, and Marner leaves a hole you can't fill. Nowhere close to being accepted by the Leafs. Dubas has made it clear he thinks Marner is the son of Christ, expect nothing less in a potential return for the prodigal son.

Kerfoot can play 3C and one of those guys could play wing. Tavares, Matthews, Nylander - Hyman, Monahan Robertson or something. Also Monahan looks like he scores a lot more goals than marner, for half the price. Plus you get Hanifin who was the leaf's first choice last summer in the Kadri trade, but Kadri vetoed it. Besides yeah, I said Dubas would never trade marner so this wouldn't happen, but it's not outlandish or crazy, it could work.


*EDIT* nvm they were interested in brodie, not Hanifin. Got the names mixed up. Still, they were ok with a left shot D man, so idk why Hanifin or somebody else couldn't play right side.
