That's an overpay for an overpaid forward who may or may not be able to replicate his previous success. Grit is inportant, and the Leafs do need it, but not at that cost. For that package, you could get some help on defence, which is far more important.

The Caps prospect pool isn’t ****. Samsonov, McMichael, Fehervary, and Alexeyev are all high end prospects, Protas and Has have very high ceilings, and Vanecek should at least be a capable NHL backup. It’s a front-heavy pool, but that’s fine for a team that’s mostly complete. I don’t see the extra points from Nylander being worth giving up everything else Wilson brings to the table.

Yeah I mean I guess it depends on what your definition of "****" is. I do know that Corey Pronman at The Athletic has consistently had the Caps around the bottom of the league, and I trust his judgment more than my own. I'm excited about Samsonov and McMichael but not quite as bullish on the others. We'll see, I would love to be wrong on this one.
