Description
...,Andersen and a pile of other guys. None of this is realistic so all you armchair experts prone to getting all bent outta shape over other opinions might wanna move along. Point is, I hate the makeup of this team as it stands. They only know how to play highlight reel hockey and nobody wants to get their hands dirty and earn their ducats by playing hard enough to win a playoff round. Three of the big four are still here so dry your tears. Nylander gets moved because he's the only one with a moveable contract. Andersen is an excellent goalie but he isnt taking a haircut to stick around and get abused by jackbags like Simmons in the media every day. Dobby is a great 1B option to help Campbell ease into the starting gig in another year. To me this kind of team is a team that can adapt to a more rugged playing style and actually survive a playoff series. Konecny can play a high tempo skill game and he can also piss people off and he can forecheck. There's enough skill on the third line to add some secondary offense. And there's finally enough jam in the top 6 to play some heavy hockey for once. Kerfoot is a fine player. He's just not good enough to be top 6 and he's not big or nasty enough to be a useful bottom 6 option. Engvall could become a Jordan Staal lite with that stride and reach. I'd love to see him make the choice to become an ELITE faceoff guy and PK specialist. Anyway, have at it. Tell me how dumb you think I am.

Idk if I would do Konecny for nylander 1-for-1 but adding a 2nd and 3rd for nylander plus dermott’s rights is a joke. Philly is up to their ears in good young defensemen. Also Konecny is arguably the better player right now, and makes over $1mm less. Hes also not a sissy.

The Philly trade is okay, Sharks aren't trading an early 2nd round pick for Johnsson, no one is, doubt Carolina gives the Leafs their 1st back for Kerfoot and Kapanen.

Just imagine leaf nation thinking it’s Anderson’s fault, anybody else see a Larry Murphy type scenario, where there is instant success and relief at his next stop.

Jersey has a goalie. If he can’t win in Toronto and the fans don’t want him why would we? A little advice. Stop driving the goalies out of Toronto and hold the management responsible for never putting a good defensive team in front of them.

Other teams same no quite easily. But what is this fascination with Pietrangelo, especially paying him 9.6m over 1m than he would receive from any other team.

if doughty can land on 11 sheets with 500 points in 900 games, Petro is worth something around the same, maybe a hair less with a flat cap for the next 2 years. He has 450 points in 750 games. If anything, he's wortth the same or more than DD.

Im team Andersen. And I agree the D core is dog ****. Andersen is 31 and he has a year left. Toronto wont be able to afford him when he re-ups. And the cap space recaptured goes toward addressing the blue line. LOL at Andersen cant win. especially when he has a great SV% , and you acknowledged that the problem is the D in front of him. Which NJ goalie do you like? Schneider?

i said “if” he can’t win and the fans don’t want him why would we. Big difference. I wasn’t contradicting myself. Anderson is a good goalie in front of a ****ty D. And I already said that I don’t hold Anderson culpable I hold the management for not addressing the proper needs. And which goalie do I like? You seem to leave out Blackwood. Who had a better save percentage this year than Anderson and is only 23.
Put yourself in the devils shoes. You have three first round picks. Are you going to give up your second best one for a goalie when you already have one. Or are you going to address your needs with a defenseman?

IMO the days of paying UFAs who are their contract, such a big % of the cap is over. Kings, and Sharks must regret signing Doughty, and Karlsson to those massive deals . Even upcoming UFAs Faulk and Vlasic look like poor deals . Good RFAs are now landing a bigger contracts as RFAs some virtually UFA money . Gotta think the UFAs will be squeezed.
I would like to know what teams, have the cap to land Pietrangelo if his pay demands are met. Sure can't be the Leafs unless they decimate their lineup.
And those trades in this post...c'mon. giving all that cap to Pittsburg and NJ gives up a first rounder for one year of Andersen....ain't happening

Word now is STL is more likely to move Parayko and extend their captain. Andersen ius worth a first. Granted, NJD might wanna put conditions on the pick, ie an extension. They need goaltending from my POV . And hes a ginger so they wont miss Scnheider too badly.
