Getting Huberdeau would be amazing, but SJ can't afford to throw out so many futures again, 2 1sts, our top prospect, and Dahlen would kill us in a few years if we did this.

It is a lot. Only way to get a top pair right hand dman. Maybe Florida adds a second? I have also proposed Nylander + Lily + 2nd for Ekblad in the past.

Those were my thoughts also. They went all in for Karlsson and it backfired hard. San Jose is an interesting case.

Not sure they would say no to this. Or at least a package around the 7oa and Nylander. They are loaded with young centres. They could use a guy like Nylander on the wing. Fits in nicely age wise also.

I know a lot of non San Jose fans are calling for a rebuild and I understand. We were 3rd worst in the league and have one of the weakest prospect pools. If you look at the roster though, I still think we can compete by adding a few top 9 forwards and a decent goalie.

Yea totally. I will need to examine their team a bit more. But it seems like a few fans think Johnsson or Kapanen from the Leafs would be interesting for San Jose. I am sure some minor tweaks and they can be competitive. A trade like Huberdeau makes them go all in again. Could turn out great.... Or Awful.

yeah I do agree Huberdeau would make us great with his affordable contract but after those 3 years we would be a total mess

Ya fair! Very few key future pieces to begin with and a lot of BIG aging contracts. I think the goal of this trade is to try to push them into competitive mode for those 3 years because 4 years from now already looks quite grim anyways.

Possibly maybe a bit older than they’d want to go. I’d be more interested in getting Byfield or Stutzle at 3 to fill that 1C spot. But then we need either an elite winger or a 2 way partner for Chabot

Just to reiterate, Huberdeau is probably worth that 10 times over, but it wouldn't be comfortable giving up that many of our future assets to get him.

He's so good though. Everyone knows that and he's still massively underrated. One of my favorite players in the league.
