Only trade I don't like is the NYI deal. We need the cap to re-sign Fiala and Kaprizov.

Like the Chicago deal. Losing Brodin sucks really badly, but I think this trade benefits both teams.

I did screw up Galenchyuk was suppose to get a 1 year prove it deal. But with that. Dubnyk, Foligno, Galenchyuk would clear up an additional $9 mil. On top of the 5 that is saved already. So next season we would have about $14 mil to resign Fiala, Kaprisov (hopefully not a huge contract after 1 year), Ek, and some of the other RFA’s.

Also the Islander trade gets us out of Parises contract and has a temporary replacement for Brodin on LD in Leddy.

I think Fiala will cost around $7-8M on a long-term deal, and I'd imagine Kaprizov will either be a $4M bridge or around $6M on a long-term deal depending on how he looks (and we may just sign him long term to prevent him from having the ability to walk in free agency after a few years). Best case scenario that leaves $4M to sign Ek, Nylander, Hartman, and Foligno. It's just not enough imo.

Parise's contract isn't super terrible right now. He's still our leading scorer and still provides value. On a fair market value deal he's probably in the high $5M range - low $6M range. The problem will be in the next few years if he can't keep up. I'd rather have the cap now to sign our guys than force them to walk because we are too afraid of Parise in the long run. Plus we can just shove him on LTIR if he retires early like Toronto does with Horton.
