Well I mean you need to add 3.75m onto pietrangelo deal to even get it close lol. Doubt he signs a 3 year deal anyways.

Also soderberg at 2c isn’t any better than copp there

Piet is making 8+ for 7 or 8 years end of discussion. Anything less is just fantasy.

Ottawa is not giving you Batherson, a 3rd, and taking a cap dump to move up a few spots. I would much rather have Batherson, the 3rd, and wherever the Islanders pick than #10.

Pietrangelo is never signing in Winnipeg, this fantasy needs to stop even on a site that's built on pie in the sky dreaming, need to keep things somewhat realistic.. Lol

Soderberg would be better then Copp at 2C, would rather sign Haula or go a different route for 2C though.

The pandemic isn’t going to affect his AAV that much. He’ll get his 8.75m whether it’s in wpg or wherever. The only chance you get him or hall under 8.5 is if it’s one year and it still probably costs you at least 7m. The only way I see the pandemic affecting UFA’s is that they might go to a less desireable team like Ottawa or WPG on shorter term (1-2 years) for a slight discount so when their payday comes the cap is rising again.

I see some weird UFA signings coming this summer. They’re not going to take huge discounts but they might go to a less desirable location on a short deal to hit the payday when cap rises.

i disagree i think UFA money will be 1/3 less than what pre pandemic value would be or there has to be massive amounts of trades or buy outs i think there are 22 teams with less than 3 mill left in cap space going into next year

Idk, Pietrangelo is 30, even a guy of his name might have a tough time cashing in when he's 33, maybe Ottawa is a possibility as he is from Ontario and Toronto might not been able to make him fit but Winnipeg doesn't seem likely in any way.

Maybe Anaheim signs him, a desirable destination with cap space and could use a RHD, even though they're retooling I could see it, they need to keep the fanbase happy and Murray doesn't sound pleased with the way the rebuild has been going, he may want to speed up the process.

I'm not some crazy fan but I did a quick Google of Pietrangelo, he married a girl from St. Louis and they have triplets, I just don't see the guy leaving Missouri for Manitoba.. Lol

If anything I think Pietrangelo signs a one year deal with a slight bump up in pay with the Blues and then signs a bigger deal with term the following offseason once some contracts expire/cap space opens up.

I wasn’t just talking about pietro, more so just all the UFAs in general. I think you’re right about him staying in St. Louis.

It will be a different year for UFA's but with the cap being flat for two seasons not just one can guys that are 29 or 30 really plan on "cashing in" when they're gonna be 31 or 32, seems like some GM's are finally figuring out signing guys to pricey long term deals at that age isn't a good idea.

Wonder if a guy like Hall doesn't realize just taking a slight bump in pay to like $7M with a long term deal is the best thing for him.

Think too maybe some guys will trade some dollars in AAV for an extra year or two in term for the added security.

Honestly I'm more interested in the offseason and the start of the next regular season then I am watching the Covid Cup and it's not cause the Jets aren't playing.

Yeah I agree, I’m super interested to see how this off-season goes. I think if hall or Pietrangelo would be willin to take like 8x7 each those are great deals for both sides. They get paid and have security for life and the teams likely get a steal of a deal in2-3 years.
