Description
Roslovic
- WPG seems disappointed in his development, still a talented player and progressing but not quite to expectation
- he seems to be unhappy with his situation/how he's being used
- PIT is a soft landing spot for him and might be a better situated to deploy him in a way he can flourish
McCann
- inconsistent scoring as 3C on PIT, decent shot suppression in that role but played far better when in the 2C role on a scoring line when Crosby went down
- WPG will be able to deploy him in that role for a prolonged period of time due to Little's injury/age, PIT forces him into a role where he's less effective

Miller/Bjugstad
- swap of overpaid but useful players, going to teams that have holes in the roster they can fill (BUF: option at RW/2C/3C, PIT: 3rd pair RHD that can fulfill expansion draft requirement)

White/Murray
- significant risk to both due to their recent play
- Murray has shown and proven more so far, White's contract goes for forever and both cap hit and term might be a problem if he doesn't progress
- worth the gamble for both, OTT is about to be absolutely loaded with much better C prospects that aren't signed to 4.75M against the cap until eternity, needs a young #1 G with Anderson departing and none of their G prospects ready or sure bets to be #1's yet
- PIT gets an expensive lotto ticket, but it's a chance at getting a young player with 2C potential, they can surround White with the resources needed to rebound in a lower role, have veteran top 6 C's to insulate/teach him as he develops, if he does actually progress his contract becomes a blessing, if not he can still be a good complementary 3C and well-rounded player

Nashville/Hornqvist
- familiarity, opening on RW with one or both of Mikael Granlund/Craig Smith departing, brings some fire and intensity back to a team that hasn't been happy with their playoff performances of late, a good middle 6 RW option with good xG numbers and excellent character/presence
- PIT loves Hornqvist but if big changes are supposedly coming and they aren't completely blowing up the team, someone like Hornqvist moving makes sense to shake things up, he's an extremely effective player but due to age he likely isn't returning more than a mid level pick or prospect

Ur not getting any assets for jugs.
Take away miller and add maybe a 7th and buf would take it. But honestly buf probably isn't interested in a player like jugs. They can sign a ufa for cheaper for a similar role that he bwould provide

Nashville isn't taking your cap dump because he used to play here. Why does every Penguins proposal send Hornqvist to the Preds for picks now? He's the new Andreas Johnsson.

Fair enough. He is costly but the price isn’t bad imo. I think a team would bite. But I’m just looking at his production and cap hit so maybe there is something I haven’t seen

Premier net front/pest/character guy who still puts up 32 points in 52 games (50 points pace in 82 game season) with good underlying numbers is a cap dump, for sure

orrr you're being hyperbolic, but that never happens in hockey forums so that can't be it...

He's old and slow and it's only going to get worse. He won't have the same offensive players in NSH to help prop up those point totals. He's not worth $5.3M right now, especially with the flat cap. He certainly won't be worth anything close to that, as he gets older, and slower, and worse. Not to mention NSH already has Arvidsson who does what Hornqvist used to do in his prime, but better.

It's not hyperbole, it's just the harsh reality. I'm not trying to dump on Hornqvist - he's always been one of my favorites. With that contract, he's just not a positive asset anymore.

BUF I could see. The fit is there but might need a pick to balance out due to Bjugstad's utility being further in the rearview mirror than Miller's. I would really love to hear the rationalizations on the others though. Because as things currently stand, McCann outproduced Roslovic in less games, White's contract is viewed as a gamble that didn't pay off and he's a player that might have earned that deal because of an elite winger that's no longer there. The potential exists for all these players involved. But to definitively declare anyone wins these deals is a bit strange. This whole exercise is one in which all these teams are kind of gambling on these players to play better for them than they did with their previous teams.

He was rarely played with Crosby or Malkin this past season or in the top 6 so his totals were hardly the product of the better offensive players around him. He did that in a limited role doing what he always has. Crashing the net and mucking around. He's never been fast. Guy has had cement boots since before he came here. He doesn't need speed to score he just needs will and he still has that in spades. His age and 5.3M are why he can be had for a mid level pick. Because otherwise you have to pay through the nose to get what a guy like him provides. Arvy is amazing. Love the guy. But the Preds clearly need more sources of heart than just him. Both PIT and NSH need a changeup. This is just one way to do something like that for each team that won't require crazy asset expenditure.

Miller > bjugstad. Miller is at least worth a 2nd imo and due to the flat cap, bjugstad has little to no value or even negative value. Therefore, the pens would have to add significantly

Roslovic is a future top 6 forward if he isn’t one already. He is starting to round out as a consistent player so the production will come. Also doesn’t make much sense form a jets standpoint since he is either wheeler’s replacement or our future 2c.

Murray isn’t worth nearly as much as most pens fans think imo. He is worth a 2nd (and personally I wouldn’t even give that for him). Murray himseld isn’t coming off the best season so it doesn’t make sense to value him that much. Imo, white and Murray are close to equal in value (though I would rather have white)z White has positive value, though he has had a rough year. They sens are much better suited to let him bounce back (which he probably will). In fact he was back to playing top 6 minutes by the end of the season. The sens therefore pass.

Therefore, there are clear winners for these trades imo and in every case it’s the pens.
