Description
I don’t see Montour as a fit, but many sabres fans are basically giving him to the leafs. So I wonder what he would be like on the leafs.

And he screws up the team. No space for Barrie 2.0

Montour is a guy Kypreos and some media tried throwing in for every Nylander tried before they moved over to Manson when Montour was flipped to Buffalo. The issue is he did not do well in Buffalo, and their fans want him traded, that's why he's in every trade package. Either Friedman or Johnston (can't remember which one) mentioned that it seems like management is trying to move montour, that he likely won't be back next season.

Could the leafs use him, with our RD, sure it's possible, but I'd rather not take a 4M gamble on a player who has not seemed effective.

Connor Murphy is not a good defensemen. I see him lumped into so many trades, and the reason he's available too is because he is bad. He had a really good major junior career, and people still have hype for him because of it, but he is the opposite of what we need. He's a poor man's tyson barrie. He is a worst-case scenario acquisition if Rielly and Sandin got hurt kind of player.

I don't understand the obsession with Carter Rowney on here either, a 4C for a guy who (specifically when with Muzzin) made a formidable shutdown pair. I'm fine with Rowney, but he's a guy you trade like Calle Rosen and a 5th for, not Holl.

Otherwise, i'm fine with Boyle.Seems fair for Dermott and Mikheyev, although Nylander would not be 3RW, he's either top 6 or playing C.

I see so many Nylander and Marner trades, so it must mean they are terrible! That is the only reason why they would be in so many trades on this site!

I would never entertain moving Marner. If anyone is traded from the big 4 it’s Nylander. Not because he’s bad but because he can be used to get what the leafs need

I'm not saying lumping into the trade is why they are bad, poor phrasing on my part. Connor Murphy is not a guy you want in the top 4. He's also an offensive guy, but Chicago's offense performed the same with him on the ice as without. And Defensively, Chicago allowed 11% more offense without him on the ice than league average, but 19% more with him on the ice. He was even on Chicago for offensive impact, but very negative defensively. Kind of like a Cody Ceci but his strength is offense instead of defense. This is extremely apparent on the PK, where the unit without him was actually 1% better than league average, but his isolated impact was 15% worse than league average. That's very bad. If a team needs an offensive guy who can play sheltered third pair minutes, then he has some value. Barrie was probably not the right comparison since his value is a lot of PP, a better one would be a poor man's DeAngelo, but still, it's not what Toronto needs.

I don't think hawks take this, retention on Murphy by that much isn't appealing. Shaw could be a useful 3rd liner for the hawks.
