Lou Lam we need you back

Équipe: 2020-21 Maple Leafs de Toronto
Date de création initiale: 12 août 2020
Publié: 12 août 2020
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Dubious Dubas Leafs, which Lou left in good shape, is doing worse than NYI's, which was a trainwreck before Lou got there.

The Shanhaplan should have had Lou at least stay long enough to resign the 3 young guns, Nylander would have got $6 million (Larkin)....Matthews would have got $10 million (Eichel) and Marner would have got $7 million (E. Kane).

You still are not addressing his overvaluation of players vs the needs of the team. You can not have four offensive players making close to 40 million and putting no defense around them. It is a fact that they are one dimensional. No change of psyche is going to change that flaw.

If he let any of those 4 players leave he would have A.) lost the trade and B.) been crucified by the fanbase. He bet on oodles of high-end skill being the winning strat of the future, but clearly heavy play and shutdown defense still have a role. The bright side is everyone wants high-end skill because it’s so rare so it should be easy to find players to fill lesser roles. Again, Dubas has at least two years before he should feel any sort of pressure to keep his job. GMs generally have a longer tenure than coaches, and for good reason, full overhaul changes to the team identity take time. Let the man breathe and think, he’s good at that

if Lou were still around, Marleau's contract would've driven Kapanen, Johnsson, and Maybe even Marner out the door. Matt Martin would still be a Leaf and making 4 million dollars. Mike Babcock would still be coach and Auston Matthews would play under 18 minutes in an elimination game. need I go on? i don't mean to say that Dubas is perfect, because he's made some terrible moves. see: Kadri trade. but Lou is NOT the answer.

Kadri is the only trade you can really say was bad. And that is only in hindsight. Barrie was considered a pretty good player at the time and just didn't pan out in TO. Many like to say losing a 1st to move Marleau was really bad but it was him or Marner and that was Lou's doing. The poster here is a well known Leaf troll. A complete idiot of great renown. Anyone who thinks Lou has any clue what he is doing should just look at the utter disaster he has unleashed in the Islanders Cap. What would Lou have done if he was given another year in TO? Traded Nylander for some 30 year old soon to be declining cement footed stay at home defenceman, he would have driven Matthews out of town and replaced him with Leo and Brassard and then would have signed Pavelski to a 5 year 8 million dollar contract to teach the youth we no longer have. Lou is ****ing terrible.

Lou/Shanahan brought in Babcock who is also a HOF coach, we all know how that worked out

Yes: the spoiled, immature, disrespectful kids don't listen to Babsy, so they bring in a rookie coach, who the Leafs can walk all over. Smart move. Where's Mark and Dale Hunter. Dale Hunter would have whipped those brats into a Cup contenders by now. Keefe still has to change their diapers and caddy J.T.'s golf bag every spring.

Sorry if you don't accept JFJ as the driving force of your team's success.

Why don’t you bring up something that he’s actually done other than handing Tuukka to boston. I would tend to give chiarelli the credit for that, but whatever it can go to JFJ.

Edit: I’ll give him credit for Kuraly too. Apparently he was the guy pushing for him in that trade.

Dubas built a team with the skill to win and that’s pretty much all he can do. It’s on the leaders of the team and the coach to motivate the team and teach them the right way to play, and then the players to buckle down and do it. That’s an intangible Dubas can’t control, all he can do is deal with the numbers and give them the skill and expected goals to theoretically win. The players are responsible for the practical side and they failed (in epic fashion). Now stop making me defend the Leafs lol use your head and blame the right people. And also stop overhyping your team, they finished 8th in the East, not first in the damn league

I agree with this. The leafs have a lot of talent, but many of them lack that killer instinct and they fold in crucial games.
