Have heard there’s the possibility that he plays 1 year in Sweden with his brother and especially bc the pandemic. Not sure if there’s truth to it or not. If he does retire, is it a full cap savings though, or is there a cap re-capture penalty due to his age and NYR would only save let’s say $3M?

CapFriendly confirmed on Twitter yesterday that it is a full cap savings due to his contract being signed on the 2013 CBA.

Here is the thing. If Hank decides to retire, i still think they should trade Georgiev and sign another Allaire project backup. With Hank's money coming off now, and then the ~$17m of Smith/Staal/Shatty the following season, the target year to load up isnt next season but the year after. 21/22. So get somebody else in there to have Allaire inflate and flip and then bring up Huska or Wall as the backup in the 21/22 season.

Either way our cap is maxed out in 21 & 22 with dead money & bonus voverage, then blown to heck with massive raises due. Hence the ridiculously expensive wants ie RNH/Bozak/Lindholm/Nylander that make zero sense...
